PagerDuty is seeking a (Senior) Network Engineer 3 to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As a Senior Network Engineer, you will report to the Sr, Director IT Operations & Security and work collaboratively with our Infrastructure, Security, and support teams as part of our team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our critical network infrastructure while ensuring 24x7 availability of our major office hubs and various cloud platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to architect and evolve our global network infrastructure while working with cutting-edge technologies across cloud and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with a security-first mindset and has a passion for automation and operational excellence.
This role is expected to come into our Toronto office 1 day per month, so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale network solutions across our global infrastructure, including cloud environments, and office locations
- Provide senior-level incident response and problem-solving for critical network issues, ensuring minimal customer impact through swift resolution and thorough root cause analysis
- Create, manage, and respond to PagerDuty alerts while maintaining our on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of network infrastructure
- Architect and implement network security controls, including DDoS mitigation, firewall rules, and zero-trust networking principles
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve network reliability, performance, and security through proactive maintenance and architectural improvements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering and operations
- Professional network certification (CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent)
- Extensive experience with TCP/IP networking, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and modern networking protocols in large-scale distributed environments
- Demonstrated proficiency in network automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools
- Knowledge of a mixed workaround environment including macOS and Windows
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with cloud networking in AWS, GCP, or Azure environments
- Strong background in network security, including DDoS mitigation, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust architecture
- Expertise with packet analysis, network monitoring tools, and performance optimization
- Experience with various endpoint security tools (Zscaler, Cloudflare Warp, etc) and Palo Alto firewalls
- Track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives in a global team environment
The base salary range for this position is 98,000 - 149,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
