Marketing Director (First Marketing Hire)
(On-site, hybrid or remote position)
We’re looking for our first Marketing Director—a builder who’s excited to roll up their sleeves and create enterprise-focused programs from the ground up. This is a rare chance to step into a high-impact role at a fast-paced technology company, where you’ll shape how we tell our story, reach new customers, and generate demand.
You will develop deep empathy for our enterprise customers and users, translate technical product functionality into clear, differentiated value, and drive alignment across Sales, Product, and Marketing. This role is ideal for a product marketer who loves digging into the “why” behind a product, crafting compelling enterprise stories, and building polished, effective materials and systems that help teams scale.
You won’t be doing it alone—you’ll have the support of an executive-level marketing advisor as a mentor and sounding board and help from current Maxa staff, or "Maxalorians". But you’ll be the one driving day-to-day execution, working closely with Sales, Product, and Leadership. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to step up, own marketing, and grow with the company.
What You’ll Do
- Build & Run Campaigns
- Design and execute programs across the funnel: awareness, lead generation, nurture, and sales enablement.
- Track, measure, and optimize what’s working (and what’s not).
- Messaging & Content
- Shape our voice in the market—craft messaging that resonates with enterprise buyers.
- Create and collaborate on content (case studies, blog posts, decks, campaigns) that moves prospects through the buyer journey.
- Work with leadership to make sure our story is clear, consistent, and compelling.
- Experiment & Scale
- Test new channels and tactics to see what drives results.
- Manage contractors or agencies as needed, while staying very hands-on yourself.
- Cross-Company Collaboration
- Work closely with Product to understand our roadmap and communicate value.
- Partner with Sales on enablement, playbooks and revenue goals.
- Bring customer insights into everything we do.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in B2B/enterprise software marketing in a startup environment.
- A mix of strategy and execution—comfortable planning campaigns and just as comfortable running them.
- Strong with messaging and content creation—able to explain complex solutions simply and craft messaging that resonates across different personas and buying stages (You’ll need to be able to support enterprise sales motions, with a strong grasp of enablement, positioning, and technical storytelling).
- Proven track record of delivering measurable pipeline and revenue impact through your understanding of enterprise buying cycles and decision-making processes.
- Hands-on experience creating and optimizing campaigns using marketing automation and CRM tools (we are on Hubspot).
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and eager to grow into a leadership role as the company scales.
Location
- Remote or hybrid based on quality of candidates.
- Our HQ is in Montreal, Canada, with staff in the U.S. and Toronto.
