Delivers an exceptional customer experience for a defined portfolio of high‑risk borrowing accounts by applying expertise to reduce the Bank’s loss exposure and manage risks. Advises internal and external stakeholders on complex, high‑risk credit risk transactions and mitigation strategies, and makes credit decisions/recommendations in accordance with sound credit‑granting principles and Bank Policy & Procedures. Works with stakeholders to deepen relationships and grow the overall profitability of the portfolio.

Strategic Advisory & Execution
Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders in making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.

Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements, and leads execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues; may consult to or serve on committees and task forces.
Stakeholder Relationships & Risk Management
Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholders, including regulators, and ensures alignment between stakeholders.
Works with stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of risk management controls, analysis, and monitoring on a transactional and portfolio basis.
Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders, including legal and insolvency professionals and commercial advisors.
Provides credit coaching, training and support to direct team and other stakeholders, and provides credit risk coaching to increase awareness of risk, policy, and structuring.
Credit, Analysis & Operational Execution
Monitors the financial and risk performance of the portfolio; performs financial and risk analysis to provide insights and recommendations to improve quality, liquidity and Bank security position.
Documents decisions on credit transactions with clear rationale; identifies and advises on terms, conditions, collateral requirements, and alternative solutions.
Maintains and enhances knowledge around lending issues including loan structure, collateral, foreclosure, bankruptcy and regulations.
Gathers and formats data into reports and dashboards; develops information management systems; defines business requirements for analytics and reporting to ensure data insights inform decisions.
Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts operational capabilities, monitors performance, and addresses issues.
Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service; operates as a senior specialist resource across BMO, influencing how teams work together.
Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to solve complex problems.
Supports credit due diligence for acquisitions or integration.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post‑secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills per standards.
Expert knowledge of banking products, industry trends and regulations, credit portfolio management policies/procedures, and financing guidelines.
Seasoned technical leader and thought leader for innovation.
Expert verbal/written communication, analytical/problem‑solving, influence, and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross‑group collaboration.
Able to manage ambiguity; applies data‑driven decision making.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
