Manager, Software Engineering
Overview
This role is part of the Software Engineering Group within the Mastercard Payment Gateway Services division in Dublin, leading a scrum team and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across the globe.
As a manager, you'll oversee a team within the payment gateway space. You will lead the team driving the modernization of onboarding and back-office systems. You oversee delivery of secure, compliant, and scalable solutions, remove technical blockers, and ensure a smooth merchant experience. You collaborate with product and other cross functional teams while mentoring engineers, guiding the team through modernization journey to achieve reliability, efficiency, and future-ready platform.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, ensuring delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.• Drive execution across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, priorities, and organizational goals.• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Operations teams to translate business needs into technical deliverables.• Provide strategic direction for system design, development, and integration using modern Java and Spring technologies.• Oversee the full software development life cycle, ensuring adherence to MasterCard standards, processes, and compliance requirements.• Promote engineering best practices, including code quality, security, testing, and documentation.• Manage performance, career growth, and hiring of software engineers, fostering a high-performance and inclusive team culture.• Coordinate with offshore and distributed teams to ensure effective collaboration and delivery consistency.• Evaluate and recommend technologies and methodologies that enhance delivery efficiency and product quality.• Ensure proactive problem management, incident resolution, and continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.
All About You:
• Proven experience managing software engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale applications.• Strong background in Java, Spring Framework, React and Node JS, with the ability to provide technical direction when needed.• Strong API Development experience with RESTful API design
security best practices.• Strong experience in Cloud platform - PCF, Azure, and AWS• Experience in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases• Solid knowledge of vulnerability management, authentication mechanisms, and regulatory compliance.• Solid understanding of software engineering methodologies, agile practices, and DevOps principles.• Demonstrated success in people management, performance development, and leading distributed teams.• Experience in delivering secure, high-availability solutions in financial services is preferred.• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence and drive outcomes.• High-energy, proactive, and results-driven, with a passion for quality and continuous improvement.
