Manager, Software Engineering

Role Overview:

At McAfee, we’re on a mission to protect our customers from the ever changing threat landscape on the web. We are looking for a Manager of Software Engineering to lead a web engineering team, focused on delivering a world class product that makes out customers' lives safer. You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity and loves solving complex problems at internet scale to delight our customers.
This is a Hybrid position located in either Waterloo or Toronto, Canada. You will be required to be onsite on an as-needed basis, typically 1 to 6 times a month. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to one of the two locations and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role:

• Lead a team of SDEs and SDETs focused on delivering a best in class web application for our customers to manage their subscription and account.

• Be hands on to provide technical / design guidance & support, be active in code reviews to hold a high bar for code quality.

• As scrum master, collaborate with TPMs on project management and execution, holding the team accountable to project milestones.

• As coach and mentor for the team, guide each member with their career and job skill development, to ensure team is well equipped to deliver impactful business outcome.

• Effective communicator and excellent at collaborating with stakeholders, driving consensus and solving problems with urgency and efficacy.

About You:

• You have 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with experience managing SDEs and SDETs.

• You have 7+ years of experience in application development in ReactJS, Redux, HTML/CSS.

• You have a strong knowledge of distributed systems, performance at internet scale and mastery at UI concepts.

• You have strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts.

• You have experience with the software development process, optimization techniques, and testing methodologies.
