Manager, Software and Associated Services Sourcing

Managerial role - The Manager_Software and Services Sourcing vacancy is a strategic leadership role that continually assesses business needs, financials and the technology vendor market to determine the best options and sources of supply for the organization.

Are you ready to make a significant impact on CAE's technological future?

As the Manager of the Software and Associated Services Category, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our access to approved technology while driving efforts to reduce technical debt and optimize our software landscape. Your leadership will be crucial in bringing together end users, IT Asset Management (ITAM), product managers, architects, and suppliers as part of a collaborative category management framework.

In this leadership position, you will manage a dedicated team of four professionals, including one sourcing manager, two sourcing analysts, and one procurement coordinator. Together, you will ensure timely execution against your category plans. You will navigate the complexities of the software and SaaS market, where providers are increasing their prices significantly, sometimes by as much as 30% or more.

The Manager is expected to develop a high-performing team, enhance employee and customer experience, and align differentiated sourcing strategies with enterprise goals. This position reports into the Senior Manager, Product Technology Procurement, Indirect Procurement. Below are key expected outcomes:

  • Category Management
    • Ensure team members create and maintain dynamic category and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
    • Continuously refine category strategies to maximize cost efficiency, risk management, and value creation.
       
  • Role Modeling and High-Impact Leadership
    • Lead high-profile projects to demonstrate sourcing excellence and superior customer experience.
    • Exhibit outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills to influence outcomes at the executive level.
       
  • Supplier Relationship Management
    • Lead Sourcing Managers to establish structured governance with tier-1 suppliers through regular Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
    • Lead team members to manage allocated Tier 1 vendor relationships across towers, enhancing collaboration, performance, and strategic alignment.
       
  • Employee Experience
    • Enhance the employee experience by creating a growth ecosystem, mentoring team members, and fostering strategic thinking.
    • Make decisive, balanced decisions to ensure team cohesiveness and adherence to company values.
       
  • OKR Co-Development
    • Collaborate with business and technology leaders to co-develop OKRs for sourcing towers that reflect enterprise priorities.
    • Drive team accountability for delivering measurable, impactful results.
       
  • Efficiency and Simplification
    • Fast-track the shift toward auditable and controllable self-serve procurement solutions for low value and low risk activities to enhance speed, agility, and user autonomy.
    • Establish innovative processes and tools to empower stakeholders while maintaining procurement excellence and compliance.

The candidate we are looking for has:

  • At least 10 years experience fostering innovation and delivering sustainable differentiated sourcing projects.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with executive-level influence.
  • Proven ability to enhance employee experience and develop a cohesive, high-performing team.
  • Create positive, business-driven customer experience through category management and differentiated sourcing strategies that deliver cost optimization and enhanced value.
  • Implement efficiency and simplification initiatives.
  • Establish themselves as trusted advisor with internal and external partners.
