Role Overview

Venture for Canada is looking for a relationship-driven revenue development professional to grow and diversify our major gifts portfolio across corporate partnerships, foundations, and individual donors. This is a role for someone who thrives on building things from the ground up: you'll develop your own pipeline of prospective partners and donors, craft compelling funding propositions that showcase Venture for Canada's programs and impact, and lead the full arc of a relationship from first outreach through proposal, ask, and stewardship. You'll bring both classic fundraising instincts and a business development mindset, moving comfortably between cultivating a major donor, pitching a corporate sponsor, and managing renewals with existing partners.

Day to day, you'll split your time between external relationship-building and internal coordination: researching prospects, preparing proposals and decks, planning partner activations, and briefing leadership ahead of donor meetings, all while working closely with Programs, Marketing, Community, and Finance to line up what's needed to deliver on commitments.

Success in this role means disciplined pipeline management as much as it means charisma in the room. You'll keep CRM records accurate, track progress against revenue targets, and provide forecasting that supports organizational planning, while also being the person who can make a confident, compelling case for support in the boardroom or across the table from a major donor. If you're entrepreneurial, organized, and energized by turning relationships into revenue, this role gives you real ownership over how that happens.

Key Role Responsibilities

Revenue Development

  • Manage and grow a diversified portfolio of revenue-generating relationships across philanthropic, corporate, and major giving channels, with accountability for retention, renewal, and revenue growth
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective partners and donors through research, networking, referrals, community engagement, and creative outreach
  • Develop compelling funding propositions, partnership opportunities, and other revenue-generating offerings that leverage Venture for Canada’s programs, community, events, impact, and brand
  • Lead proposals, presentations, pitches, and partnership conversations with prospective funders, partners, and donors
  • Maintain an active understanding of the corporate and philanthropic landscape and identify emerging opportunities relevant to Venture for Canada

Corporate & Philanthropic Partnerships

  • Manage and grow relationships with a portfolio of existing corporate and philanthropic partners, ensuring timely renewals, strong stewardship, and delivery of contractual and funding commitments
  • Lead the planning and execution of partner deliverables, including brand activations, employee engagement opportunities, content features, events, reporting, and other customized benefits
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of impact, stewardship, and partnership reports
  • Develop and maintain partnership materials, decks, proposals, case studies, and other sales and stewardship tools

Individual & Major Giving

  • Develop and execute Venture for Canada’s major gifts strategy, with a focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-networth individual donors
  • Build and actively manage a pipeline and portfolio of major gift prospects
  • Develop individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies designed to deepen engagement and increase giving
  • Partner with Venture for Canada leadership and Board members to engage, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects
  • Lead the development of major gift proposals, cases for support, briefing materials, and stewardship communications
  • Work with Venture for Canada’s Community Lead to identify opportunities to engage VFC’s alumni community and develop future giving relationships

Cross-Functional Delivery

  • Work across Programs, Marketing, Community, Finance, and other teams to secure the information, content, and resources required to develop proposals, steward relationships, and deliver partner and donor commitments
  • Coordinate and drive cross-functional delivery of partnership commitments, establishing clear requirements, timelines, and ownership across internal teams
  • Work with Programs and Marketing to translate Venture for Canada’s impact, programming, community, and brand into compelling funder and partner opportunities, proposals, reports, and communications
  • Ensure internal teams have clear visibility into upcoming partner and donor commitments, deliverables, and deadlines

Revenue Management & Reporting

  • Maintain an accurate and actionable pipeline across corporate partnerships, philanthropic partnerships, and major gifts
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for prospects, partners, donors, opportunities, and relationship activity within the Manager’s portfolio
  • Maintain accurate records of donor and partner interactions and support the integrity of development data
  • Provide regular pipeline and revenue forecasts to support organizational planning and decision-making
  • Track performance against revenue targets, including pipeline value, revenue secured, renewals, new opportunities, and portfolio growth

Who You Are

  • You are a relationship-driven fundraiser who knows how to turn connections into meaningful, long-term partnerships. You bring strong fundraising fundamentals, but you’re equally comfortable borrowing from modern business development and sales approaches to build pipeline, open doors, and generate revenue
  • You are proactive and entrepreneurial. You don’t wait for a fully developed playbook - you can take ownership of an opportunity, figure out what needs to happen, bring the right people together, and move it forward
  • You are an exceptional relationship builder who is comfortable engaging with senior leaders, corporate partners, foundations, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals. You know when to listen, when to make the pitch, and when to make the ask
  • You are also highly organized and detail-oriented. You understand that great relationship development requires strong follow-through, accurate information, and disciplined pipeline management

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, revenue development, business development, or a related field, with a strong foundation in major gifts and/or institutional fundraising
  • A business development and sales mindset, with experience prospecting, building pipeline, cultivating relationships, developing opportunities, and closing revenue
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility and relationships with senior executives, funders, donors, entrepreneurs, and other external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate organizational impact into compelling proposals, pitches, presentations, and conversations
  • Strong ownership and initiative - you are comfortable taking an opportunity from idea through execution with limited direction
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through, particularly when managing multiple relationships, commitments, and deadlines
  • Strong comfort with CRM systems, pipeline management, reporting, and using data to manage your work
  • The ability to work cross-functionally and get what you need from busy internal teams to move opportunities and commitments forward
  • Experience in economic development, entrepreneurship, innovation, business, or a related ecosystem is considered a strong asset
  • Experience working with corporate partners and/or developing corporate partnerships is an asset
