We’re looking for a Manager, External Communications and Public Relations, to join our team!
In this role, you will support the direct-to-consumer business line working with the belairdirect brand, as part of Intact Financial Corporation’s Corporate Communications team. This is a full-service communications team of experts that support the business objectives and strategic roadmap.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Communications, Direct Distribution.
As a Manager, External Communications and Public Relations, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to develop and deliver communications that raise brand awareness, protect and enhance the corporate reputation, and contribute to belairdirect’s business objectives.
What you’ll do here:
Strategic communications planning: develop and execute comprehensive external communication strategies that align with the organization’s objectives and enhance the brand’s visibility and reputation in the consumer market across Canada.
Oversee media relations efforts in both French and English, proactively pitching stories and sourcing storytelling opportunities to drive positive coverage, and managing inquiries to ensure balanced coverage that protect’s the brand’s reputation.
Managing issues and crisis communications on an as-needed basis, liaising with and working alongside colleagues from across the organization.
Support a wide range of campaigns and programs with internal and external partners.
Respond to requests from various stakeholders, including expertly writing, editing and proofreading a range of communication materials such as news releases, key messages, and communication plans.
Showcasing that natural storytelling ability across different communication channels and mediums.
Use your stellar writing and creative skills to develop compelling and engaging communications.
Ensuring all external communications support belairdirect’s brand and image and are connected to IFC’s corporate objectives and strategy.
Guide executive communications and thought-leadership positioning for belairdirect leaders
Identify and execute on employer brand opportunities on the brand’s LinkedIn channel.
Consult on belairdirect customer communications to ensure alignment with brand tone and narrative.
Actively support team-wide collaborative initiatives such as employee townhalls and transformational initiatives.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the company, including corporate communications, government relations, marketing, strategy, legal, internal communications and other brands.
Oversee third-party vendor and external supplier management.
Lead and manage a team with direct report(s) while serving as a leader on the broader Corporate Communications team.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in communications/journalism/public relations, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, corporate affairs or external communications.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders.
Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
Can prioritize work and multi-task in an environment with multiple deadlines and competing demands.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external partners.
Team player with a positive attitude.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Biligualism (French / English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues accross the country and members of the media.
