Manager, Data Science & AI Community Enablement
Overview
The AI Transformation Team is responsible for accelerating enterprise-wide adoption of AI and data-driven practices at Mastercard. A core pillar of this work is the Data Science & AI Guild, which builds community, capability, and culture for Data Scientists and AI Engineers across the company.
As Manager, Data Science & AI (Community & Enablement Lead), you will lead the Guild's community and learning strategy, driving engagement, skill development, and responsible AI adoption aligned to Mastercard's enterprise AI learning priorities. You will partner closely with AI practitioners, product teams, Learning & Development, Communications, and risk and governance stakeholders to scale AI fluency and impact across the organization. You will partner to support Guild communications, events, and engagement.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Data Analyst/Scientist or AI Engineer with a passion for community leadership, enablement, and cross functional collaboration.
Role Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:• Lead the AI & Data Guild strategy, shaping a vibrant, inclusive community for Data Scientists and AI Engineers and positioning the Guild as a hub for collaboration, learning, and innovation.• Support and scale the Guild's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) focused on specific remits (MCPs, Workbench tooling etc.) by recruiting leaders, coordinating activities, and ensuring SIG outputs (e.g., best practices, reusable assets, community standards) are shared across the broader AI & Data community.• Drive community engagement and culture through flagship events (e.g., Data Science Summit, GuildFest), regular forums, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that celebrate impact and best practices.• Advance AI & Data Science learning and upskilling, partnering with Learning & Development to deliver role-based pathways aligned to Mastercard's Learning Framework, from AI Literacy to AI Fluency and AI Impact.• Own Guild knowledge platforms and content, ensuring AI resources, training materials, and community contributions are current, high-quality, and aligned with enterprise standards.• Provide insights and thought leadership, bringing external trends, benchmarks, and best practices into the Guild and partnering with Communications to highlight community impact.• Measure and improve impact, defining and tracking engagement, learning adoption, and AI impact metrics to continuously refine Guild programs and demonstrate business value.
All About You:
The ideal candidate has:• Proven community or program leadership, with experience leading communities of practice, enablement programs, or large-scale learning and engagement initiatives in a matrixed environment.• Strategic program management skills, including the ability to set vision, execute multi workstream programs, and apply change management principles to drive adoption.• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, comfortable engaging technical audiences, presenting insights, and serving as a visible advocate for AI and data science initiatives.• A learning and development mindset, with experience or strong interest in technical upskilling, adult learning principles, and building practical, role-relevant learning experiences.• Innovation and external perspective, staying current on AI trends and translating industry insights into actionable community and learning priorities.• Leadership and mentorship experience, with the ability to inspire, coach, and influence through collaboration rather than authority.• A global mindset, with comfort working across regions and time zones and occasional travel for major events.• Strong Interest AI and Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI Engineering • Preferred - hands-on experience delivering data-driven or AI-powered solutions.• Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. This posting reflects one or more current openings on our team.
Pay Ranges
Toronto, Canada: $109,000 - $158,000 CAD
