As a Location Control Manager - Associate in the APAC Controls Management team, you will help develop and maintain a robust control framework across business lines and corporate functions. Job responsibilities
- Support the controls agenda for the location, partnering with Business Control Managers to proactively identify, escalate, and remediate control issues
- Present an aggregated view of operational risk controls across locations, escalating emerging issues to governance and supporting remediation efforts
- Ensure issues are addressed through appropriate governance and that remedial actions are fully embedded
- Collaborate across business lines, corporate functions, risk, compliance, and audit to form an end-to-end view on controls and assess potential systemic gaps or emerging risks
- Benchmark control capabilities and practices, promoting the sharing of best practices across functions
- Monitor the effectiveness of controls and support continuous improvement in control design and execution
- Analyze data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and associated risks
- Support optimization of control practices and resolution of cross-business issues
- Engage business and functional managers to mitigate risks and prioritize high-impact issues
- Maintain effective working relationships with regulators, internal audit, and control partners
- Act decisively in high-risk scenarios, making well-reasoned decisions under pressure
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls, operational risk, audit, operations, compliance, or other control-related functions within financial services
- Strong understanding of business processes, controls, and risk assessment methodologies
- Ability to articulate business unit functions, controls, and risks, and to identify gaps and develop solutions
- Experience in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience supporting or influencing cross-functional and geographically diverse initiatives
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- MBA would be a plus
- CPA or CA qualification
- Prior experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Transaction Services, Private Banking, or Investment Management
- Familiarity with the firm's core businesses or corporate functions
- Experience negotiating and influencing key decision makers across functions
- Track record of supporting process improvements and sharing best practices
