Job Responsibilities:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a Production Environment pertinent to the work cell requirements. (i.e. assembly, press, welding)
  • Basic Problem Solving Methods (5 Why)
  • Basic IT Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • 5S & LPA (Layered process audit)
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
  • Practical problem solving
  • Standardized Work
  • MAFACT Simulation Training
  • Leadership skills and abilities
  • Maintenance of production perishable tooling; i.e. weld tip changes
  • Basic knowledge of SPC and Inspection Instructions
  • Experience with computerized production data entry CMI software
  • Knowledge of WHMIS/GHS
  • Knowledge of bar code labeling machine/operation

DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Current valid forklift license
  • Automotive manufacturing experience

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Line Leader checks that all pre-production safety, quality and productivity checks are completed by Team Members
  • Line Leader is available in the production area at all times to be able to respond immediately to Team Members call for help (Andon) with the main goal of assisting the Team Member overcome the problem to preserve output for the customer.
  • Line Lead or alternates fill in temporarily for Team Members that are absent (for some minutes) or need to leave the line (e.g. bathroom break, etc.) and next level of leadership steps down to cover their responsibilities during this period.
  • Support Team Members performing defined autonomous maintenance activities
  • Escalate safety, quality and productivity issues according to defined escalation process
  • Perform Layered Process Audits (LAP)
  • Review of previous shift information regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues
  • Make work assignment adjustments based on absenteeism, training, etc.
  • Walk the production area to confirm 5S, equipment readiness, and material supply conditions are to standard
  • Participates in pre-shift Team Member Tier 1 meeting
  • Prepare safety, quality and productivity communication information for next shift (End of shift)
  • Check that 5S, equipment readiness, and material supply conditions are to standard at end of shift (End of shift)
  • Line Leaders are participating in the maintenance, training, and continuous improvement of Team Member Standardized Work.
  • Line Leaders train Team Members using the Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Instruction (JI) method for cycle work jobs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date training matrix for all team members.
  • Tracking of Leader Standard Work for Line Leader
  • Responsible for cell (team) meeting production goals
  • Responsible for process startup and control
  • Issues quick work orders to toolroom and maintenance (these should at least go through Area Leader)
  • Breaks coverage (replace operator on breaks/lunch)
  • Responsible for training of team members in production of parts, safety, and completion of time sheets
  • Responsible for periodic quality checks
  • Responsible for weld destruct and record data
  • Lead Continual Improvement in the area
  • Lead and maintain 5S program in the area
  • Encourage and facilitate submission of TESS Suggestion for team members
  • Communicate issues to Area Leader and opposing shifts
  • Start up to 15 minutes early (depending on the work cell) and stay up to 15 minutes after (depending on the work cell)
  • Make labels for team members
  • Ensures work cell is always production ready (first off/last off/material/etc.)
  • Facilitate product change over; Dies, Fixtures, etc.

Wages: Starting at $25.33 per hour
