Ready to level up your career?

Frima is looking for a Lead Unreal Programmer to help our game development team level up.

At Frima, we’ve been cultivating creative boldness for over 20 years! We’re proud to have received the award for Best Employer in the Canadian video game industry in 2021, 2022, and 2023 (GamesIndustry.biz).

And the reason is simple — we know how to take care of our people:

  • 4.5 workdays per week, year-round (Friday afternoons off);
  • Truly flexible work: remote (for individuals residing in the province of Quebec), hybrid, or 100% on-site — it’s your choice;
  • Up to 7 weeks of vacation per year, plus sick days and personal days — your well-being matters to us;
  • Comprehensive group insurance from day one;
  • RRSP contribution;
  • $400 allowance for ergonomic equipment purchases.

Life at the studio

  • Access to chair massages, fresh fruit and snacks, a gym, sports activities, and more;
  • Regular project and company update presentations — we keep our team informed about what’s happening at Frima;
  • Tight-knit, caring, and inclusive teams — even remotely!
  • Come discover the rest for yourself!

Job Description

What your weeks will look like

  • Daily Scrum meetings;
  • Build a relationship of trust with the partner by acting as the main point of contact in your area of expertise;
  • Contribute to the various stages of game design and development within a multidisciplinary production team;
  • Maintain smooth communication with other departments (design, art, production) to ensure optimal integration of the different project components;
  • Bring your expertise to help determine the most appropriate technical approaches to deliver the project and achieve the desired results;
  • Ensure code quality and the application of best development practices (code reviews, testing, optimization);
  • Lead, coach, and support your direct team through continuous feedback and ongoing coaching;
  • Collaborate with your Technical Director (Core Team) to ensure alignment with company standards.

In short: a leadership role where you’ll still remain involved technically, with a variety of responsibilities that evolve over time, exciting projects, and FUN every day!

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related diploma combined with equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of development experience;
  • Experience as a Lead Programmer or in a similar position;
  • Strong command of the Unreal Engine;
  • Excellent knowledge of C++ and strong optimization skills;
  • Ability to travel outside the country when needed;
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in both French and English. English skills are required to perform the job, as we collaborate with English-speaking partners.

What we value within our team

  • Demonstrated curiosity for new technologies;
  • Strong team leadership skills;
  • Ability to motivate and mentor;
  • Excellent stress management in a fast-paced environment;
  • Diplomacy, patience, resourcefulness, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
