As a Senior Technical Writer for Developer Documentation, you will be responsible for creating high-quality documentation aimed at developers and technical users. You will work closely with our development, QA and product teams to understand technical concepts and translate them into easily understandable content, including API references, user guides, integration manuals, release notes, and troubleshooting documentation for our merchants, partners, and developers.

This is a remote role based in Canada only.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design processes that empower engineers to efficiently manage and update API documentation, providing templates, guidance, and tools.
  • Write and maintain developer-focused content—including tutorials, reference docs, and sample code—that clearly illustrates integration and customization.
  • Create and deliver targeted release notes for merchants, developers, and internal staff, ensuring effective communication of product changes.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and the developer community to refine documentation for clarity, usability, and technical accuracy.
  • Champion Developer Experience best practices, staying current on new technologies to keep docs relevant and comprehensive.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative measures to assess the performance of developer documentation experience.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A resident of Canada.
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field (or equivalent experience), plus 5+ years writing technical documentation for software development or APIs.
  • Developer Tools & Workflows: Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile processes. Comfortable using developer tools, common IDEs, and languages such as HTML, MDX/Markdown, etc.
  • API-Focused Knowledge: Solid grasp of RESTful API design principles, familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, and hands-on experience documenting APIs (including troubleshooting and best practices).
  • Documentation Tools & Platforms: Proficiency with platforms like Confluence, GitHub, ReadMe, or Redocly; experience with open-source doc frameworks (e.g., Jekyll, Docusaurus, MkDocs); and knowledge of Swagger/OpenAPI for REST API documentation.
  • AI Experience: Experience using AI to improve documentation and workflows; willingness to learn and experiment with new AI tools and technologies; strong understanding of AI concepts and capabilities.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities—capable of translating complex technical details into accessible, concise documentation.
  • Collaboration & Independence: Adept at working independently and as part of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, engaging seamlessly with product managers, engineers, and QA.
