The Perfect Match

  • As our IT & Access Technology Coordinator, you will play a central role in empowering our team of Engineers and the broader organization by ensuring they have seamless access to the tools and resources needed to excel in their work. Your primary mission will be to set up and maintain a comprehensive environment of Access Control Systems (ACS) that our product integrates with — serving as the backbone for our development, integration testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • This role goes beyond basic setup: we are building a network of over 20 ACS systems to mirror the diverse environments our customers operate in. You will lead the creation of a scaled-down, fully functional version of this network in our lab, making each system readily available for use by our engineering and QA teams. This includes both physical appliances housed primarily in our Montreal office and virtual appliances, for which you will manage the hosting infrastructure. The perfect match for this role is someone excited by hands-on system setup, eager to tinker with various ACS technologies, and ready to shape a high-availability, high-utility internal environment that will drive our product forward.
  • More broadly, you will be a part of our internal IT team and contribute to all aspects of our IT operations. You will help drive our automation efforts, ensure our business support systems are functional and set up in a user-friendly manner, and oversee management of all company-owned devices that support our work.

Your Impact

  • Access Control Systems
  • Lead all aspects of setting up and maintaining all our development instances of partner access control systems and ensure their availability for our engineers. These include well known enterprise access control solutions from vendors including Genetec, Lenel, SoftwareHouse and others.
  • In conjunction with our Operations team, work with these vendors to ensure proper licensing of all instances we deploy internally.
  • Perform physical setup in our offices, including wiring of readers and controllers to be used by our R&D engineers.
  • Set up and maintain required infrastructure to host these instances; this includes setting up and maintaining any VMs, network configurations, and physical servers required to ensure continued availability for our engineering team.
  • Workplace technology
  • Ensure all business support technology is functional and set up for easy use by our overall team. This includes our local office network and workstation setups, videoconferencing equipment, smart lockers, and our own access control systems for our office locations, and extends to supporting users and managing training and documentation.
  • Assist our internal IT team with the administration of business systems such as our device management platforms and asset tracking systems.
  • Help standardize our device and equipment policies and manage evergreening of all technology.
  • Support our employees for all their technology needs including onboarding, periodic training, change management and issue resolution.

The Winning Formula

  • A technical degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have: some knowledge of at least one enterprise-class Access Control System, as an administrator or integrator.
  • Must have: experience installing and wiring physical access control technology including readers and controllers.
  • Must have: good knowledge of computer networking and IP theory of operation
  • Must have: demonstrated ability to learn and seek information when faced with a wide variety of systems to manage
  • Must have: excellent communication skills and dedication to supporting teammates to do their best work
  • Strongly preferred: experience administering enterprise server systems running both Linux and Windows OSs
  • Strongly preferred: ability to code simple scripts and automation in the language of your choice

Benefits

  • Vacation Days: 4 weeks + 1 week when the office is closed during the holidays (discretionary)
  • Sick/Personal Days: Flexible
  • 100% remote or hybrid: you choose (our office is located in Downtown Montreal)
