Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser, and Pocket, a service for keeping up with the best content online. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About the role:

The Internal Communications Manager will play a crucial role in driving communication programs that keep the Mozilla employee community informed, engaged, and aligned with the company’s strategy and goals. Working closely with company execs, senior leaders and cross-functional teams, you will support the development, refinement and execution of communication strategies that strengthen Mozilla’s internal culture during a period of significant change.

This role is part of the Communications team within Marketing and will report to the Director of Internal Communications.

Key responsibilities:

Communications leadership: Drive awareness and alignment around our corporate and product strategies along with company-wide initiatives helping Mozillians cut through the noise and focus on what’s most important. Align internal messaging with the company’s mission, operating values, and strategic priorities.

  • Executive and leadership communications: Work directly with senior leadership to craft key messages, including executive talking points, internal presentations, and company-wide emails. Embed with functional teams to ensure continuity of communicating those key messages.
  • Program management: Own the production and execution of high-visibility internal communications such as the monthly internal employee newsletter, Life@Mozilla blog, some of the all-company meetings and other employee engagement initiatives.
  • Change management: Lead internal communication efforts during periods of organizational change, ensuring transparency and engagement.
  • Cross functional collaboration and relationship-building: Collaborate on projects to drive employee engagement with programs, campaigns and initiatives.
  • Communication calendar: Partner with the Director of Internal Communications to maintain an internal communications plan, including a content calendar and recommended channels, and deliver compelling and cohesive narratives to support Mozilla’s initiatives.
  • Maintain current internal communication practice: Maintain our baseline internal communication channels and platforms, including intranet (Confluence) and newsletters, to ensure employees stay informed. Document processes, plans and templates to ensure an accurate history is maintained and new plans can be initiated quickly.
  • Improve and/or scale to stay aligned with emerging best practices: Keep up with tech and global news including what/how peer group companies are communicating to their employees. Implement methodologies and innovative thinking, considering new uses for old channels, and the creation of new forms of communications, to ensure the right messages hit at the right time.

Key qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive communications experience, preferably in a global or remote-first environment. Experience managing communications during significant organizational change is a plus. You know how to lead with empathy while building a culture of high performance.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead strategic communication execution and provide guidance across departments. Comfortable advising senior leaders on complex communications issues.
  • Project management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to collaborate across different teams, influence without authority, and drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated success in navigating ambiguity and leading through change while keeping employees informed, engaged, and aligned.
  • Storytelling: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. A creative thinker who can craft compelling narratives that resonate with employees at all levels.
  • Ethical and low ego: You engender confidence and trust while also fostering respect and credibility. Able to maintain strictest discretion on sensitive topics as they arise.

What you’ll get:

  • Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
  • Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
