The Transversal Risk team provides a total fund perspective, overseeing the risk framework across asset classes highlighting interdependencies and potential impacts on PSP’s total portfolio and its ongoing evolution. The team is also responsible for replicating the risk profile of PSP’s private investments using public comparables. They deliver a holistic view of total fund risks by encompassing both private and public market investments for a dynamic approach to exposure and concentration analysis.
ABOUT YOUR ROLEAs an Intern, Transversal Risk, you’ll:
Participate in providing a total fund risk view via existing tools, analyses, and reports
Conduct fundamental analysis of private investments across different asset classes such as real estate, infrastructure, natural resources, private equity, credit investments, complementary portfolio, and capital markets alternatives
Research relevant information on the industry, geographic segmentation, business activities, and financials of diverse companies and find public comparables (proxies)
Prepare, support, and recommend a basket of proxies for new private investments and participate in the monthly and annual reviews
Handle special requests from your immediate supervisor
Participate in ad-hoc projects and tasks from the CFRO Group
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or other related field
Advanced or intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of financial analytical tools and databases such as Capital IQ and Bloomberg is an asset
Strong programming skills in Python, R, Matlab, and SQL is an asset
Understanding of private investments and public financial markets, different asset classes and financial instruments
Solid understanding of financial statements, strong analytical skills, and sound critical judgement
Ability to learn fast, proactivity, creativity, and open mind
Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, and curiosity to look beyond surface facts
Ability to work collaboratively, cultivating meaningful relationships with colleagues
Must return to studies after the internship, or the internship must be part of your curriculum
Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
