About the Team:

Investment Operations serves as a control point between the Front Office (Investment Management and Trading Teams) and the Back-Office Counterparties (Brokers, Issuers). The work is varied and structured in a few hour blocks of tasks with broad exposure across the Operations, Investment and Trading departments. 

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Application Support, you will monitor and support all aspects of a Fund’s trade life cycle (including, but not limited to order allocation, cash/asset reconciliations, corporate actions, expenses, securities pricing, audit support); liaise with vendors to troubleshoot issues, provide servicing to internal stakeholders as well as participate in new product launches and ad-hoc projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work shift to cover evening ETF processing
  • Responsible for day to day operational support of various Investment Operations applications with a primary responsibility for Bloomberg AIM
  • Contribute to enhancement of various Investment Operations systems
  • Responsible for timely and efficient resolution of issues in daily Investment Operations systems
  • Provide after hour and weekend support on a rotation basis for various Investment Operations applications, ensuring prompt attention and escalation as required to avoid disruption to the business.
  • Act as the liaison between the internal teams and application vendors to resolve technical queries and software issues for the customer quickly and efficiently.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to update clients as to the status of their requests; manage customer expectations regarding estimate response times for issue resolution.
  • Own the customer queries from start to finish; communication with customers and team members regularly on issue status.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure excellent levels of client service.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of user experience through understanding the business model, business rules etc.
  • Track vendor related issues from discovery to resolution; monitor Issue logs to ensure all issues are addressed and escalated appropriately.
  • Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions. Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approach to issues.
  • Understand, Maintain, and Create documentation on team processes
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships by effectively communicating and regularly sharing information and knowledge with team

Your Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of investment operations/production support experience
  • Prior experience with Investment trading and supporting systems such Eagle Investment Systems, Bloomberg Professional Applications, CIBC Mellon Workbench, Charles River and SS&C or other applicable systems
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office (specifically Excel formulas.  Access, macros & VBA knowledge is an asset).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SQL/Oracle, relational databases an asset.
  • Investment management business knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of Domestic and International Equities, FI Instruments (including TIPS, ILG, and other linked Bonds), Exchange Trade Funds, Currency Forwards, Options, Futures
  • Strong data knowledge, specifically in Financial Industry Security Master data
  • Results oriented: focused on getting things done with tangible and measurable benefits.
  • Ability to work independently, under tight timelines, with great attention to detail.
  • Technical literacy, able to understand complex issues and translate these issues down to the lowest common denominator.
  • Relationship building: able to build, maintain and manage strong relationships with investment managers, analysts and client services agents.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: able to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in adding operational efficiencies at the process and systems level.
  • A record of consistent adherence to the highest ethical standards of professional conduct
  • Service minded and client oriented.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
