About The Role

The Human Resource Advisor will be responsible for providing HR general advice and support to employees and managers within their dedicated client groups.  While reporting to the HR Director, the incumbent works in tandem with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) to provide support throughout the employee lifecycle while ensuring cohesive and seamless HR support and contribute to reaching organizational goals.

What You'll Do Here

  • Provide guidance to first level managers with respect to employee relations. Initiate progressive discipline for cases of lateness, absence, performance, etc. Ensures legal compliance.

  • Provide research and recommendations to assist HRBP with investigations and resolution of employee relations matters.

  • Prepare, maintain and update employment records/documentation in the HRIS related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating.

  • Work closely with HRBP to ensure cohesion of HR best practices and client group needs.

  • Answers general queries from employees and managers concerning HR policies, group benefits plans, procedures and programs.

  • Conduct exit interviews, review exit survey reports, and make recommendations to improve retention and employee engagement.

  • Assists HR leads with manager training on various HR topics and programs.

  • Provide one on one training to new managers on HR policies and systems (Workday).

  • Manage employee offboarding process during probationary period, end of contract or resignations.

  • Actively participates in various committees (francization, health and safety, etc.) as needed.

  • Participates with HRBP in the development and implementation of various HR programs and processes such as performance and compensation management, talent reviews.

  • May conduct onboarding sessions for dedicated client groups.

  • Provide administrative support to employee promotions and compensation-related changes.

  • Acts as back-up during leaves or time off of HR colleagues.

  • Manage leaves related to employee Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and possibly other personal leaves. Works with HRBP/Manager, Wellness & Benefit to follow up on any other types of leaves for the client group.

  • Provide job confirmation letters and other job-related information requests in compliance with best practices.

  • Participate in various HR related projects as needed.

Altasciences strives to provide a French working environment for its employees in Quebec. Although as part of its francization program has taken all reasonable steps to avoid imposing the above-mentioned requirement. Fluency in English is an essential requirement for the position of Human Resources Advisor including, but not limited to, for the following reasons:

  • The employee communicates frequently with Altasciences employees across Canada and the United States. As such, English is the main language used to correspond between offices.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • And a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Registered Human Resource Professional certification is an asset.

  • Good skills using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.

  • Some experience using HCM system, Workday knowledge is an asset.

  • Excellent bilingual, French and English verbal and written communication skills in order to support employees and managers working in and outside of Quebec.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, initiative and good judgement.

  • Ability to set and manage multiple priorities and work in an organized manner.

  • Successful approach to managing multiple stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Professional demeanor, including the ability to demonstrate the upmost discretion pertaining to employee information.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
