Job Description

Your role within the team:

  • Perform engineering work following Atkinsrealis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support to plant facility system design engineers to integrate human factors into design modifications or new projects.
  • Perform and document human factors analyses e.g., function and task analyses.
  • Development of computerized displays and conventional panel human-system interfaces e.g., meters and control devices.
  • Participate in human factors verification and validation activities.
  • Participate in discussions with facility design engineers, CANDU utility staff.
  • Support technical reviews (around Human Factors) for project documentation to ensure Human factors scope is adequately addressed.
  • Co-ordinate HF work scope for minor project scope including definition of work scope, communicating client requirements.
  • Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other areas of the company.

The ideal candidate:

  • University degree in Engineering, Human Factors (HF) & Ergonomics or Applied Psychology or related field.
  • Experience in delivering HF work packages within high hazard industries such as Nuclear.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the use of Human Factors methods and techniques.
  • Experience in working within other 'Regulated' industries.
  • Knowledge in the application of Ontario Power Generation and/or BrucePower procedures and guidelines.
  • Knowledge in the application of Human Factors standards and guidelines, specifically the Human-System Interface Design Review Guidelines (NUREG-0700 by NRC).
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
