 Position Summary:

An HR Business Partner at Miovision plays a crucial role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives. This position serves as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance and support across various HR functions, including employee relations, performance management, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.  A key component of this role is to act as a subject matter expert on U.S. legislation, benefits, and geographic-specific considerations, ensuring compliance and effective HR practices within the U.S. portion of the client group. The HRBP will collaborate with managers and employees to drive HR initiatives that support business objectives and foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Accountabilities:

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance issues, and policy interpretation.  
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Advise managers on disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans, ensuring compliance with legal and company policies.

Performance Management

  • Support the implementation and administration of the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback sessions.
  • Coach managers on effective performance management practices and provide guidance on developing performance improvement plans.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving organizational performance.

Talent Development

  • Partner with managers to identify talent development needs and develop strategies to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
  • Support the implementation of training and development programs, including onboarding, leadership development, and technical training.
  • Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions to identify and develop high-potential employees.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Support organizational change initiatives, including restructures, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Provide guidance on organizational design and development, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of HR programs and policies.

U.S. Employment Law and Compliance (Subject Matter Expert)

  • Provide expert guidance on federal, state, and local U.S. employment laws, including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and state-specific regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. employment laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks.
  • Develop and implement U.S.-specific HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and investigations related to U.S. compliance matters.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with experience supporting employees in both Canada and the United States.  
  • Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. employment laws and regulations.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. employment law and compliance.
  • Experience with U.S. benefits and compensation programs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.  
  • Proficiency in Bamboo HR
  • Experience working with multi state employers.
