💼 The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Head of HR / People Operations to lead Bankjoy’s HR function as the company continues to grow globally.

Reporting directly to the COO, this role will focus on building strong HR frameworks, improving manager effectiveness, and ensuring our people processes scale effectively across a distributed organization.

The Head of HR will focus on performance management, employee relations, HR operations, leadership support, and retention strategy while helping build a strong and accountable culture across the company.

You will also partner closely with department leaders to design clear retention and promotion frameworks across teams, ensuring high-performing employees are recognized, developed, and promoted appropriately as the company grows.

The ideal candidate is someone who can both design HR systems and execute them, and who is comfortable supporting leaders in a fast-paced startup environment.

🧠 What You’ll Do

HR Strategy & Organizational Development
  • Partner with the COO and leadership team to design HR strategies that support Bankjoy’s continued growth.

  • Build scalable frameworks for:

    • Performance management

    • Employee engagement and retention

    • Promotion and career progression frameworks across departments

    • Organizational planning and workforce development

  • Work with department leaders to establish clear promotion criteria and career progression paths so employees understand how they can grow within the company.

Retention & Talent Development
  • Design programs to improve employee retention and engagement across teams.

  • Analyze retention data, employee feedback, and performance trends to identify opportunities to strengthen talent development and reduce turnover.

  • Partner with leadership to ensure high-performing employees are recognized, developed, and retained through clear growth opportunities and promotion pathways.

Performance Management & Manager Enablement
  • Develop and maintain a structured performance management framework across the organization.

  • Coach managers on:

    • Setting clear expectations

    • Providing constructive feedback

    • Career development conversations

    • Managing underperformance and PIPs

  • Provide training and guidance to help managers become stronger leaders.

HR Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee core HR operations including:

    • Onboarding and offboarding processes

    • Compensation and benefits programs

    • HR policies and documentation

    • HR systems and employee records

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian employment laws across a distributed workforce.

Employee Relations & Culture
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on employee relations matters.

  • Support leadership in resolving workplace issues with fairness and professionalism.

  • Help reinforce a culture of accountability, transparency, and high performance across the organization.

Partnership with Talent (Recruiting)
  • Work closely with the Recruiting team to ensure Bankjoy attracts and hires strong talent.

  • Support hiring managers with:

    • Hiring frameworks and evaluation standards

    • Onboarding programs for new hires

    • Talent development and retention strategies

  • Ensure hiring plans align with long-term organizational goals.

🎯 What You Bring

Must Have
  • 10+ years of HR experience, including leadership roles

  • Experience building HR frameworks in scaling technology companies

  • Strong experience with performance management and leadership coaching

  • Solid understanding of U.S. and Canadian employment laws

  • Experience supporting distributed teams

  • Strong communication and executive advisory skills

Nice to Have
  • Experience working in fintech or SaaS companies

  • Experience working alongside a dedicated recruiting team

  • Experience scaling organizations from 50 to 150+ employees
