Design, automate, and execute Grafana k6 load and performance tests for Guidewire Cloud modules. Create JavaScript or TypeScript scripts, test REST APIs, analyze observability and performance results, identify application, infrastructure, and database bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations. Evaluate the impact of Guidewire cloud updates and features on existing processes while supporting deployment and adoption plans in an Agile environment.
Description:
- Guidewire Developer Analyst, Cloud Feature Adoption
- A Quebec-based insurer is expanding its Guidewire team,
responsible for evolving and optimizing its Guidewire suite for property and
casualty insurance. You will be at the heart of the adoption of new features
delivered by Guidewire as part of cloud updates, across PolicyCenter,
BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, and the Data Platform.
- This role is central to the delivery process: you will
evaluate each new feature, analyze its impact on existing processes, and then
develop deployment and adoption plans that enable the organization to fully
leverage it.
Job description:
- The client is looking for a Performance Test Engineer to
join the Guidewire team. Their daily work involves designing, automating, and
executing load scenarios with Grafana K6 to validate the capacity, stability,
and resilience of the Guidewire suite during updates and new features.
- Despite the title "Guidewire Developer," the core
of the role is not functional platform development, but performance
engineering: K6 scripting in JavaScript/TypeScript, REST API calls, analysis of
results using observability tools, identification of bottlenecks, and
optimization recommendations.
- Guidewire and damage assurance processes are presented as
assets, not requirements: a candidate with strong load testing skills but no
prior Guidewire experience is still a suitable candidate. The target level is
intermediate to senior-intermediate. The profiles not to be confused with this
role are the functional Guidewire developer (Gosu, configuration) and the
functional QA tester (Selenium, Cypress), which do not cover performance.
Requirements
What we are looking for:
- Experience with the Guidewire Cloud platform on at least one
module (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, or Data Platform)
- Understanding of Guidewire upgrade cycles and releases
- Knowledge of modern APIs, integrations, and application
architectures
- Ability to analyze the impact of new features on existing
processes
- Experience in an Agile environment (Scrum or Kanban)
Required:
- Proficiency in Grafana K6 for developing and automating load
and performance test scenarios
- JavaScript/TypeScript for creating K6 scripts
- Understanding of web protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, REST API)
- Analysis and interpretation of performance results,
identification of bottlenecks (application, infrastructure, database), and
optimization recommendations
Desired:
- Observability and monitoring tools: Datadog, Dynatrace, or
equivalent
- CI/CD pipelines: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent
- Understanding of cloud architectures and distributed
applications
Asset:
- Orchestrator TestKube testing
- Guidewire platform (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter,
BillingCenter)
- Property and casualty insurance business processes
