The e-Commerce, Group Account Director will be a pivotal leader within our agency, responsible for defining, developing, and executing comprehensive e-commerce strategies that drive significant revenue growth and market share for our clients. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise in e-commerce platforms and technologies, coupled with exceptional client-facing skills to build strong relationships, translate complex technical concepts into clear business value, and effectively communicate strategic recommendations. The ideal candidate will be a visionary who can lead and mentor a team, stay ahead of industry trends, and deliver innovative solutions that exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

e-Commerce Strategy & Leadership (40%):

  • Develop and champion cutting-edge e-commerce strategies for a diverse portfolio of clients, aligning with their overarching business goals and marketing objectives.

  • Lead the discovery, analysis, and recommendation of appropriate e-commerce platforms, tools, and technologies (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, headless commerce solutions).

  • Drive innovation in e-commerce, identifying and implementing new opportunities in areas like personalization, subscriptions, loyalty programs, marketplace integration (Amazon, Walmart, etc.), and emerging retail technologies.

  • Oversee the development of e-commerce roadmaps, project plans, and implementation timelines, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for e-commerce initiatives, providing regular reporting and actionable insights to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Stay abreast of the latest e-commerce trends, technologies, consumer behaviors, and competitive landscapes, translating these insights into strategic recommendations.

Technical Expertise & Oversight (30%):

  • Possess a deep understanding of the technical architecture and capabilities of major e-commerce platforms and related integrations (e.g., ERP, CRM, marketing automation, payment gateways).

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to internal teams and clients on e-commerce development, integrations, data migration, and site performance optimization.

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert, capable of debugging, troubleshooting, and offering solutions for complex e-commerce challenges.

  • Evaluate and recommend third-party applications, APIs, and plugins to enhance e-commerce functionality and user experience.

  • Ensure best practices are followed for e-commerce security, scalability, and site speed.

Client Relationship Management & Communication (30%):

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients on all e-commerce related matters.

  • Cultivate strong, long-lasting client relationships by understanding their business needs, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Effectively articulate complex e-commerce strategies and technical concepts in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Lead client presentations, workshops, and strategic planning sessions with confidence and gravitas.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for organic growth within existing client accounts.

  • Manage client expectations, resolve issues, and ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Media, Advertising, Business Administration, Marketing, IT, or related field

  • 6+ years of experience in e-commerce strategy or digital commerce, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role.

  • A minimum of 6 years of media planning, media buying, and digital media experience focused on all channels (social, search, programmatic, display, video, etc.), and SEO & Analytics work are also great assets for this role

  • Proven success in leading e-commerce initiatives that drove measurable growth.

  • Experience running campaigns or leading an advertising team for the following platforms (in priority order): LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Search, Facebook, Google Display, Instagram, Microsoft Ads, Twitter, among many others.

  • Passion for using digital advertising to grow businesses and generate leads

  • Balances team and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views. Gives and welcomes feedback.

  • Highly detail-oriented and can synthesize information from multiple perspectives and sources to make specific recommendations that align consumer and business needs.

Additional information:

The salary range for this position is $110k-$130k. Actual salary within the salary range will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, and skills. A range of medical, dental, RRSP, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available to all permanent employees.
