Your role

You are responsible for leading the creative direction for graphic and infographic concepts across a wide range of visual content and programming (including communications, advertising and marketing campaigns). You will oversee the entire project life cycle — from planning and development to final implementation of concepts — while co-ordinating, assigning, reviewing and checking the work of contributors providing services for your projects.

Key tasks:

  • Provide guidance to your clients and collaborators on design concepts, choices, art/visual direction, workflows and production methodologies.
  • Participate in production meetings to align on esthetic choices, budgetary frameworks and timelines.
  • Establish the creative vision for graphic and infographic concepts, ensuring all visual assets (whether still, animated or print) effectively support the overall program concept.
  • Present design concepts using mock-ups or storyboards, clearly articulating the value and benefits of each approach to clients.
  • Determine the most effective production methods within budget and schedule constraints. Plan and co-ordinate all phases of the production process. Execute or commission graphic and infographic concepts.
  • Gather and research the necessary audiovisual materials and information required to execute approved graphic and infographic concepts for projects.
  • Plan, co-ordinate, assign, review and check the work of all contributors providing services for your projects.
  • Produce visual elements (including still, animated and print materials) that align with the approved creative direction.
  • Develop original design solutions that meet project requirements while navigating technical standards and constraints.
  • Assist in the selection or creation of soundtracks and other audio elements to enhance a wide range of visual content and programming.
  • Direct video shoots and the assembly of assets specifically designed to complement graphic and infographic concepts.
  • Manage the production process through to the final format, except when specific elements need to be inserted by the producer.
  • Perform in-depth, detailed research and analysis to solve new or complex design challenges where established standards and practices may not yet exist.
  • Develop and recommend design standards for graphic and infographic content to ensure visual consistency across all programs and materials.
  • Design and execute visual layouts, interfaces and navigation for web-based content and multimedia applications (CD-ROM).
  • Ensure quality control throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage digital assets and storage by effectively archiving or deleting project-related content.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in art, design and technology.
  • Assist in building and maintaining a comprehensive image and media database (print, video, digital) for future reference and project integration.
  • Participate in project reviews to assess progress and make corrections/adjustments or evaluate the success of completed initiatives.
  • Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper followup and to keep others informed.
  • Familiarize other employees with their duties and work environment.
  • Carry out, as needed, all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group, as well as other related duties.

Please note this is an on call position and this role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic communications, interactive multimedia design (graphic design) or a related field.
  • Five (5) years’ experience required to perform duties satisfactorily (a strong portfolio is a critical requirement).

Selection Criteria:

  • Theory tests.
  • Practical tests.
  • Interview.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
