The Role
The Global Sanctions Team ("GS") is part of the Financial Crimes Team within Block Compliance. GS executes Block's Global Sanctions Program to effectively manage and mitigate economic sanctions risks across the organization.
As a Global Sanctions Program Manager, you will be responsible for working cross functionally to assess risk, analyze data, and use automated tools to drive truly innovative insights for Block's Global Sanctions Program. In particular, you will primarily be responsible for the management, oversight, and quality assurance of global sanctions operations, internal investigations, and adherence to rules and regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions authorities.
This role is fully remote in the US.

The Role

As a Global Sanctions Program Manager, you will be responsible for working cross functionally to assess risk, analyze data, and use automated tools to drive truly innovative insights for Block's Global Sanctions Program. In particular, you will primarily be responsible for the management, oversight, and quality assurance of global sanctions operations, internal investigations, and adherence to rules and regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions authorities.
This role is fully remote in the US.
You Will
- Develop, document and conduct QA of sanctions alerts adjudicated by Global Sanctions Analysts
- Develop, document and conduct QA of periodic blocked account reconciliation activities performed by Global Sanctions Analysts.
- Production of global sanctions team metrics including, but not limited to, the number of sanctions-related escalations referred to and actioned by GS as well as regulatory reports filed with OFAC and other sanctions authorities in order to inform board reporting, Compliance health meetings, annual sanctions risk assessment, audit and regulatory exam requests.
- Conduct internal investigations of potential violations of economic sanctions rules and regulations
- Management of sanctions policies and procedures
- Ownership and remediation of self-identified sanctions issues
- Management of risks related to Block's emerging businesses
You Have
- 5 or more years of private sector (preferably banking) or government experience in sanctions compliance in an Advisory capacity
- Thorough understanding of U.S. sanctions regulations
- Experience with non-US sanctions programs, including Canada, Australia, the EU, UK, and UN
- Extensive experience conducting internal investigations and collaborating with internal and external counsel
- Extensive experience managing internal and external reviews.
- Experience with a broad range of product offerings and international markets
- Experience driving large remediation projects and internal transformation
- Experience developing end to end compliance risk management programs
- A strong analytical approach to create substantiated solutions
- Clear written and presentation skills
- Adaptability in an agile and fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate with team members of all levels, and cross-functional partners
- A mindset to deliver results proactively, resourcefully, and methodically
