ABOUT THE TEAM
Clients in the automotive and mobility industry have been engaged with UL Solutions for more than 100 years. We serve leading automotive original equipment manufacturers OEMs and their key supply chain partners to bring new and changing technologies to market. Our involvement starts with product design including material selection, carries through to supply chain management and production, and culminates with support for product marketing and positioning. We also work with key international regulatory agencies, local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and manufacturers on the development of consensus-based standards and services that apply to the automotive industry.
- Lead the safety simulation activities for autonomous driving software, including but not limited to tool configuration, test case generation, scenario-based test design, etc.
- Lead the development, or review, or audit/assessment of safety work products for clients seeking compliance to standards in functional safety and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21448, UL 4600 and other similar standards relevant to systems- and software- engineering.
- Employ established methods and frameworks, relevant to functional safety and related fields, to lead the engineering development or review, or audit/assessment of safety cases for complex software-intensive systems.
- (Examples of such systems may include self-driving vehicles, industrial automation systems, battery and energy storage systems in both vehicle and stationary applications, and related systems..) Methods and frameworks may include safety analysis such as FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, safety requirements management, safety concepts such as FSC/TSC work products, system and software architectures, HIL and SIL test, system integration test, vehicle integration test, and system/vehicle validation.
- Lead full training events in topics relevant to functional safety and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21448, UL 4600 and other similar standards.
- Contribute to mentorship and development of junior-level engineering personnel.
- Lead business development activities defining Statements of Work (SOWs) and providing budgetary estimates for client proposal development
- Lead client programs by interacting regularly with clients in technical program meetings and project reviews.
- Address client concerns and to resolve client issues.
- Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to clients in reference to functional safety and related technical fields.
- Projects may include regular travel to client sites and to other UL locations.
- Perform verification reviews or other technical review activities as directed.
- Represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shows..
- Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact, reports and written communication, and interactions with clients engineering and management personnel.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment..
- Contribute to the development of UL technical standards and other relevant technical standards (from ISO, IEC, IEEE, SAE, etc. ).
- Coordinates complex laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians and by establishing completion dates.
- Coordinates administrative aspects of project management.
- Serves as Project Handler of record and signs as Reviewer of record as assigned.
- Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
- Prepares Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages.
- Integrate continuous improvement and safety culture in all aspects of the job.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.
