Role Overview:

Gratia is seeking a Founding Engineer to lead the company’s technology strategy and innovation. As a key member of the founding team, you will play an integral role in shaping Gratia’s product from concept to execution. You will drive the development of the platform, translate product ideas into functional features, and ensure the scalability and security of Gratia’s technology infrastructure. Responsibilities:

Platform Development:

  • Lead the development of Gratia’s platform, from concept through production, ensuring alignment with business and user needs.

Technical Strategy:

  • Shape the long-term technical strategy of the company, identifying key areas for technological investment and innovation.

Scalability & Security:

  • Build scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring data privacy and adherence to security regulations.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to translate product designs from prototyping tools into user-friendly features.

Team Leadership:

  • Help build and lead a high-performing engineering team, establishing a culture of innovation, ownership, and technical excellence.

Product Roadmap Ownership:

  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of Gratia’s product roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals and user needs.

Technical Collaboration:

  • Leverage a strong coding toolkit to work closely with engineering, bridging the gap between product vision and technical implementation.

Platform Development Insight:

  • Apply product management expertise to guide the design and evolution of platform features, with a focus on scalability, usability, and long-term growth.

Qualifications:

  • MSc in Computer Science or a related STEM field; a master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior technology role, with 5+ years of hands-on development experience in full-stack engineering (JavaScript, React, Python, SQL).
  • Experience deploying software with cloud providers (AWS, GCP) and working with AI/ML tools (OpenAI, HuggingFace).
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of building and scaling technical teams.
  • A passion for innovation and building solutions from the ground up (0→1 mentality).

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: Competitive annual compensation starting at $60k, with the opportunity for growth.
