About the role:

The Sun Life Health (SLH) business within Sun Life Canada is a leading provider of Group Benefits and Health Solutions. A market leader in the advancement of workplace mental health across Canada, through the introduction of new tools such as Virtual Care and Stress Management and Well-Being program providing members access to mental health and medical specialists 24/7. SLH is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its fast-paced and energetic Finance team.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Controls, the Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in executing and supporting control activities critical to the Sun Life Health business.

What will you do?

  • Prepare account reconciliations ensuring they are accurate and meet SOX and Sun Life account reconciliation standards.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve differences in reconciliations in collaboration with business partners.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Validate, improve, and document key business processes and controls.
  • Participates in projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in reconciliation, audit, financial reporting, technical accounting, , and/or internal controls.
  • Previous experience with Frontier (or other reconciliation tools), SAP and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of IFRS and SOX controls relevant to the insurance industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and flexible to changing priorities and timelines.
  • Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

Preferred Skills:

  • CPA or other relevant designation is considered an asset.

Unique Requirements:

  • As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
