Have you ever wanted to work with cutting edge technology that combines artificial intelligence, lasers, and is shaping the future of farming? 

As a Field Demo & Trials Specialist at Carbon Robotics, you’ll operate and be responsible for your very own Carbon Robotics’ LaserWeeder and tractor field and trial research equipment, manage logistics for demos and trials, and provide critical feedback on machine performance in the field. This role is hands-on and field-focused, ideal for someone who’s comfortable with equipment and curious about how things work.

In addition to the hands-on field work, you’ll be assessing the operational effectiveness in specific targeted field trials, data collection, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Your insights will help inform product improvements and support the sales team with real-world results for current and prospective customers.

What you’ll do:

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Collect and compile comprehensive data on the LaserWeeder and its associated features, with a focus on its impact on agricultural practices and cost analysis.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, strengths, weaknesses, and areas of potential improvement.

Demonstrations & Field Events:

  • Operate the LaserWeeder during live customer demonstrations and field events, showcasing machine capabilities and performance in real-world conditions.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to ensure successful setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment during on-site demos and promotional events.

Cost-Benefit Analysis:

  • Assess the economic and operational benefits, including labor savings, yield improvement, and reduced chemical usage, to determine the overall cost-effectiveness.

Report Generation:

  • Prepare clear and comprehensive reports and presentations that summarize findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
  • Communicate complex technical information in an easily understandable manner for stakeholders.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineers, agronomists, and universities, to gather insights and data necessary for analysis.

Recommendations:

  • Offer actionable recommendations and insights to help farmers make well-informed choices about implementing the LaserWeeder.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data, calculations, and analysis methods.

Market Research:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and the competitive landscape for laser weeding technology and similar farming equipment.
  • Evaluate the market demand and potential return on investment for adopting laser weeding machinery.

Financial Modeling:

  • Develop financial models to simulate various scenarios and assess the potential outcomes of adopting laser weeding technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Proficient in operating tractors with various implements and safely trailering large machinery.
  • Professional proficiency English, French, German, and Spanish
  • Familiarity with farm machinery, agricultural technology, and precision agriculture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, statistical software).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of agricultural economics and cost-benefit analysis principles is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Sciences, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in agricultural machinery analysis or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience in conducting cost-effectiveness studies and financial modeling is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will involve a lot of travel to farms to conduct on-site assessments and event demonstration locations. Travel should be considered as much as 70% of the time.
