The Opportunity
We're excited to welcome a Field Compensation Consultant to our team! In this role, you'll help shape and manage impactful field compensation programs for the MMFA organization-including secondary compensation programs-through end-to-end program management: design, strategic analysis, regulatory compliance, financial analysis and modeling, and ongoing program governance. You'll collaborate closely with our field force, financial consultants, regional heads of field management, and executive leaders to advise on programs and communicate them effectively. You'll also partner with Finance and Technology to bring ideas to life, lead complex projects with real ownership, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you'll dig into problems and drive solutions.
The Team
The Compensation Program Management team is a high-visibility, high-impact group that delivers meaningful results for both internal and external partners. We work hand-in-hand with the broader Compensation Design team to research, model, and solve complex program challenges-and we are trusted across the organization to turn insights into clear, actionable solutions. Our work is highly collaborative, partnering with Legal, IT, Actuarial, Field Management, Operations, Accounting, Compliance, and MMLIS. Team members take ownership of key programs, support one another on priority work, and bring creativity, agility, resilience, and attention to detail to everything we do. Success in this role requires strong communication and the ability to influence in a matrixed environment-and you'll see the impact of your work every day.
The Impact:
As a Field Compensation Consultant, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Leverage knowledge of field compensation end-to-end (design through implementation, including documentation, administration, forecasting/reporting, and regulatory support).
  • • Partner with advisors and management to resolve issues, educate, negotiate, and make decisions.
  • Support technology delivery by defining business requirements and testing, while balancing shifting priorities to meeting deadlines.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and providing innovative improvements to practices and procedures.

The Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or HS diploma with 10+ years of financial analysis experience
  • 5+ years financial experience
  • 4+ years with Microsoft Office, including Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, Basic Logic)
  • 3+ years developing insights and presenting to leaders to drive decisions

The Ideal Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience within financial services
  • 2+ years of experience working with a field sales team or general agency system
  • Knowledge of the MassMutual career agency system, contract types, MassMutual and MMLIS products and services and related compensation types
  • Strong communication, consulting, and customer service skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; identifies practical technical solutions with urgency and attention to detail
  • Experience with SIERA reporting system
  • Basic accounting knowledge

What to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team

  • Focused one-on-one meetings with your manager
  • Networking opportunities including access to Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, African American, women, LGBTQ, veteran and disability-focused Business Resource Groups
  • Access to learning content on Degreed and other informational platforms
  • Your ethics and integrity will be valued by a company with a strong and stable ethical business with industry leading pay and benefits
