This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Calix is looking for a Tools and Services Intern to join our Engineering Operations Team for the summer months. You will be part of a unique and award-winning program within the company which provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior engineers to enhance and expand the automations implemented by Engineering Operations - Tools and Services team. This may include scripts in Python, PHP, or re-design of front-end using JavaScript and NodeJS. The results of your work will be used by several teams to perform day to day development and test related activities.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Work with our Software Configuration Management (SCM) team oto support ongoing projects and initiatives
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of tools and systems
  • Add new features to existing frameworks
  • Create the required accompanying technical documentation
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and solve problems
  • Automate repetitive tasks using scripts and internal tools

 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preference will be given to students who have completed their Junior or Senior years and who have previous internship or work experience
  • Knowledge of Python, PHP, C/C++ or Java, MySQL, JavaScript
  • Familiar with Linux and Windows OS
  • Familiar with source control applications such as GIT
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills and excellent telephone presence
  • Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September)

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

There are different ranges applied to specific locations. The average base pay range (or OTE range for sales) in the U.S. for the position is listed below.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly

All Other Locations:

24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
