We’re seeking a Director, Internal audit to partner with key stakeholders and peers to support and engage with our powerful networks of people, opportunities, and investments. PSP Investment’s Internal Audit function plays a critical role in assisting the Board and executive management discharge their oversight role. Internal Audit is responsible for developing and executing an agile risk-based audit plan to provide timely assurance and advice on the organization’s governance, risk management, and control activities supporting PSP in the pursuit of its Corporate Business Plan and strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Managing Director and Chief Internal Auditor, the successful candidate will be responsible for engaging in and supervising internal audit engagements in a broad array of topics relevant to PSP’s operations. More particularly, but without limitations, the successful candidate will be expected to supervise PSP Investment’s various IT audit and advisory engagements, in a digital transformation context. Operating with significant autonomy, the successful candidate will need to acquire a thorough understanding of PSP’s business processes and technology risks, inform the annual audit planning, and execute/supervise a portfolio of audit and advisory engagements. Key responsibilities will include identifying focus areas, determining engagement plans and developing work programs based on relevant frameworks and standards, supervising the auditors and reviewing their work including ensuring the effective communication of findings and delivery of high-quality IA reports.
The candidate will also actively contribute to the establishment of the annual risk-based Internal Audit plan, to the preparation of quarterly Audit Committee reporting, to the development of IA talent and to building strong relationships within PSP.
Deliver the Plan and Manage Engagements:
• Plan, lead and deliver IA engagements (with end-to-end accountability for scope, resources, budget, timeline, audit program etc.)
• Supervise and review the work of internal audit teams and external advisors, ensuring timely execution, quality of deliverables, and effective issue management throughout the engagement lifecycle
• Ensure the IA work is executed in adherence to all applicable quality and professional standards
• Develop clear, practical and forward‑looking recommendations that strengthen governance, risk management practices and internal controls, supported by robust root‑cause analysis
• Prepare IA reports and present findings and recommendations at closing meetings; ensure language used is objective, accurate, in plain business language avoiding technical jargon
• Coordinate the delivery of Management’s action plans and corroborate their adequacy and relevance to address IA recommendations
• Monitor the progress of recommendations and assess the implementation of corrective actions
• Provide advisory services, consistent with our role as an assurance partner and trusted advisor
• Attend working groups or project steering committees to provide proactive assurance
• Communicate proactively the status of engagements and important issues to be raised to the Managing Director and Chief Internal Auditor and regular status updates to auditees / process owners to provide a “no surprise” experience
• Support the IA leadership in developing and updating the annual Internal Audit Plan and in drafting quarterly Audit Committee reporting
Demonstrate Leadership, Develop Talent and Foster Continuous Improvement:
• Promote the use of data analytics to target high-risk areas, identify anomalies, corroborate findings and identify trends
• Demonstrate GenAI risk literacy, governance insight, and assurance capability to oversee AI enabled processes, advise on emerging risks, and leverage GenAI within the Internal Audit function
• Develop and maintain knowledge of corporate and investment activities at PSP, as well as strategic objectives and initiatives.
• Keep abreast of market developments, trends and emerging risks, and share knowledge and business intelligence with the other members of the IA team.
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders, process and control owners.
• Engage and coach resources assigned to engagements under your purview and facilitate their professional development.
• Supervise external consultants as required.
• University degree in accounting/finance, computer science, management information systems and or other relevant fields;
• CPA, CIA or CFA designation is a must and Certified Information Systems Auditor designation is a strong asset;
• Minimum of 12 years experience in auditing, risk consulting, and outsourcing experience. Experience in Technology, Cloud & Digital transformation a strong asset;
• Experience with audits of IT general controls, information security, cybersecurity (segregation of duties and access privileges), and digital transformation advisory, including project governance, transformations programs and change management;
• Experience developing and implementing analytics/continuous audit monitoring program;
• Institutional investment industry experience and/or knowledge of capital markets preferred;
• Experience managing and developing high performing team;
• Good knowledge of COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001/2 and NIST frameworks;
• Knowledge of systems development (life cycles and risk analysis);
• Knowledge of aspects of vulnerability assessment, networking technologies, general IT security and database management (data visualization and data analysis tools);
• Proficient with various computer tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and financial systems;
• Skilled in collaborating across diverse teams and stakeholders by building trust relationship; proven experience engaging and partnering on strategic topics at the executive level and other partners;
• Strong communication skills (oral and written English and French): effective communicator leader and constructive influencer.
