Director Finance, Business Partnering

The Director, Finance plays a critical national‑level leadership role in driving financial performance, strategic decision‑making, and long‑term business value. This role leads the Finance Business Partnering function and serves as the senior finance advisor to executive and business leaders across the organization.

Highly collaborative and forward‑looking, this position requires a seasoned finance leader with strong commercial acumen, exceptional influencing skills, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights. Success in this role comes from balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on partnership ensuring strong financial discipline while enabling smarter, faster decisions across the business.
 

What You Will Do

Strategic Finance Leadership & Business Partnering

  • Act as the senior finance partner to executive and senior business leaders, influencing strategic and financial decision‑making at an enterprise level

  • Provide forward‑looking insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities, ensuring leadership has a clear financial view of outcomes before decisions are made

  • Translate complex financial data into clear strategic recommendations that support national and multi‑business initiatives

  • Serve as the finance lead for major strategic discussions involving investment prioritization, resource allocation, pricing, margin, and cost management

  • Act as the “go‑to” finance leader for initiatives with broad enterprise or national financial implications

Leadership of Finance Business Partnering

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of Finance Business Partners

  • Set clear expectations and ensure consistent, high‑quality financial analysis, modeling, and insight delivery across all business units

  • Review, challenge, and approve assumptions, analyses, and recommendations produced by the team

  • Provide mentorship, escalation support, and capability development to elevate the overall impact of Finance Business Partnering

  • Foster strong engagement, collaboration, and accountability within the team

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Own business unit budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning cycles

  • Consolidate business unit plans into an integrated, strategically aligned financial outlook

  • Lead scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and financial impact assessments to support informed decision‑making

  • Oversee development and approval of financial models for capital expenditures, branch openings, relocations, closures, acquisitions, divestitures, and major initiatives

  • Ensure plans are realistic, aligned to strategy, and actively used to guide the business

Business Performance, Controls & Governance

  • Provide timely, decision‑oriented performance reporting and insights to senior leadership

  • Identify and clearly communicate key performance trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Credit, and Purchasing to improve working capital and overall financial performance

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, governance standards, and data integrity

  • Promote a strong culture of accountability, ethics, and financial discipline across the business

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Build strong, trusted relationships across Finance and the broader organization

  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting tools, planning processes, and analytical capabilities

  • Partner with BI, IT, and Finance peers to enable scalable, efficient, and insight‑driven reporting

  • Share best practices and contribute to the overall effectiveness and leadership of the Finance function

What You Bring

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • CPA (or equivalent professional designation)

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including business partnering and financial planning & analysis

  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching and developing high‑performing teams

  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to connect financial results to business drivers

  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with comfort presenting to executive leadership

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with enterprise planning tools an asset

  • Highly collaborative, proactive leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, complex environment

  • Willingness to travel across Canada (~10%)
