Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the purchasing activities of an establishment
- Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control the purchasing department budget
- Identify vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies
- Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services
- Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
- Review and process claims against suppliers
- Interview, hire, and oversee the training of staff.
- Creating, monitoring, analyzing, and improving the demand forecast for both the short and long term
- Cooperation with the sales and supply chain (operations) teams and contribute to the clarity towards other areas about capacity needs.

Requirements
- Procurement and purchasing agents and officers usually require a bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics.
- 3-5 years of work experience in the supply chain for sourcing specialists and analysts is usually required (a comparable, relevant position)
