The mission of the Cross-Sector and Advanced Analytics and Data Solutions Department is to speed up the data valorization at Desjardins and be a catalyst for the digital transformation. As a data engineering advisor, you help develop solutions for collecting, integrating, consolidating, cleaning, storing and mining data flows. You help develop, maintain, support and run computer applications and data pipelines, while ensuring the functional analysis, IT design, coding, fine-tuning and documentation of programs. You serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert. You interact with a very large number of stakeholders working in a wide range of fields and advise decision-making committees on strategic directions and business positions. More specifically, you will be required to :

  • Design and develop data pipelines, and integrate, transform and consolidate data from different systems in structures that are adapted to a wide range of contexts, while contributing to their operationalization and maintenance

  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and optimization of innovative systems that meet business needs in compliance with security rules

  • Use various script languages and tools for storing and producing highly complex sets of data

  • Ensure the ad hoc development of algorithms, prototypes and proofs of concept within highly complex projects

  • Identify opportunities to optimize systems based on trends and behaviours, anticipate underlying impacts of changes and ensure that data management services are enhanced

  • Create and update documentation on technical solutions

  • Draft data engineering best practices and procedures, and ensure that parameters are applied properly

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field

  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in a data engineering role, including two years with Azure solutions (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks)

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Experience in data processing

  • Experience migrating on-premises data to cloud computing

  • Experience with a programming language such as Python or SQL

  • Experience working with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Repos, Pipeline)

  • Experience working with source control systems (GIT, SVN)

  • Experience and knowledge of agile methods and tools

  • Knowledge of French is required
