Data Backup Administrator

As a data backup administrator, you manage and maintain Desjardins Group’s data backup systems, while ensuring data integrity and a sound infrastructure. You must uphold the values of honesty, integrity and confidentiality at all times in this role. You help optimize processes as well as Desjardins’s data life cycle. You also work on large-scale technology projects. An essential part of the role is the ability to draft clear, accurate and accessible documents and communicate complex information clearly. More specifically, you will be required to :

• Ensure scalable and effective backups through proactive capacity planning, performance controls and configuration settings.

• Define, implement and maintain backup policies in the cloud computing platform.

• Automate recurring operations (rollout, configuration, monitoring, remediation) using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, Python or equivalent.

• Implement security policies and procedures for data backup. 

• Install, maintain and update data backup hardware and software. 

• Troubleshoot errors and backup issues, and analyze the root causes. 

• Communicate with hardware and software representatives and other internal teams to diagnose and resolve errors with underlying issues.

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field

• A minimum of four years of relevant experience administering data backup systems for a large organization

• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

• Knowledge of French is required

• Knowledge of the Commvault Metallic solution

• Knowledge of cloud backup solutions

• Knowledge of scripts, such as Terraform

• Knowledge of backup automation solutions

• Knowledge of Commvault

• Knowledge of Cohesity

• Available 24/7 as an on-call advisor with pay
