We’re looking for…
We are looking for a CPA-designated Corporate Controller to serve as the lead of Lillio’s Finance Operations machine during a pivotal phase of growth. You will be the owner of financial reporting, overseeing accounting operations for both our Canadian parent and US subsidiary. The ideal candidate will thrive in a growing SaaS company, helping to drive scalable, efficient financial infrastructure to manage our multi-entity, cross border operations and keep pace with the company’s growth.
The right candidate will be someone who sets a high bar, finding “flow” in perfectly reconciled accounts and finding ways to streamline processes, making our Finance organization work more efficiently. We’re looking for someone with a vision to automate the bottlenecks out of a 5 day close. The Finance Team you’ll be joining…
The Accounting and Finance team at Lillio is a high-performing, agile team committed to the financial stewardship of Lillio’s business. They are focused on using financial information to drive strategic decision making. As a committed team, they are excited about driving process improvement, automation and the latest financial and accounting technology to ensure efficient and accurate reporting.
Note that this is a remote role, and we are actively sourcing candidates in the Ontario region - preference for candidates in KW, GTA, and Southwestern Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE for parent, subsidiary and consolidated entities.
- Establish an efficient and timely close process to meet all reporting deadlines. Identify bottlenecks and implement automation or workflow adjustments without compromising quality.
- Manage consolidation process, reconciling and eliminating all intercompany transactions across entities.
- Act as key contact for the annual audit team during field work.
- Implement and maintain appropriate internal controls to ensure ASPE, tax and legal compliance and streamline cost and time of annual audit.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, overseeing calculation and posting of all revenue for three revenue streams.
- Manage AR, AP and Inventory ensuring sufficient liquidity and cash flow to support operational needs.
- Responsible for Treasury Operations across all Parent and Subsidiary accounts including ensuring appropriate internal controls in place. Identify financial risks, including currency fluctuations and operational risks, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Oversee corporate tax filings across Canada and the US, including commodity, payroll and income tax ensuring all filings are timely and accurate.
- Collaborate with technology teams to identify, implement and optimize appropriate accounting software to improve quality and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Act as Finance partner to key stakeholders People Operations (supporting payroll, as needed), RevOps (supporting Billing) and IT (supporting cost management). Partner with FP&A to conduct BvA and MoM variance analysis.

What you bring to our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- CPA designation required.
- 7-10+ years of experience in progressive Accounting/Finance roles, with at least 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller or Finance Manager role within a multi-entity, Canada / US environment.
- Experience in growth-stage / scaling environments, specifically managing transition from manual processes to streamlined workflows and automated accounting systems.
- Has worked with VC or PE backed businesses and familiar with requisite expectations and reporting standards.
- Strong experience with applying GAAP (ASPE with IFRS a “nice to have”), including deep experience in revenue recognition in SaaS subscription / usage based business models including familiarity with key SaaS KPI’s (i.e. MRR, ARR, GDR, NDR and LTV).
- Experience with Canadian commodity tax, as well as US Sales & Use Tax.
- Possess a high standard for accuracy ensuring a high level of accuracy in reporting.
- Proficiency in online accounting software (i.e. QBO and Xero), as well as with transition to ERP (i.e. Netsuite, Sage Intacct) and transition.
- Strong Excel and Google Suite skills (advanced formulas and pivot tables).
- Demonstrated ability to manage finance staff at growth stage companies and create a high performance culture by setting clear goals and expectations, mentorship and coaching to the team.
- Experience building and implementing processes, internal controls and accounting software to streamline finance operations and reporting.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with payroll and expense software in a SaaS environment, e.g. Float, Rippling.
- Experience with companies in the manufacturing sector.
- Experience with companies that have gone through an M&A process.
- Familiarity with financial automation tools for streamlining accounting processes.
