Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
Operating as an independent function, the Compliance Quality Oversight team evaluates and assures the health and effectiveness of AML/CFT and Sanctions Program execution across Compliance Operations. The team is seeking two Program Managers with deep expertise in cryptocurrency and sanctions to focus on these two unique areas to ensure appropriate oversight, sampling, review and coverage of specific typologies, risks and themes, error-rate reporting, and corrective action frameworks are in place for cryptocurrency and sanctions risks and drive continuous improvement in these programs.
You Will
  • Own the end-to-end quality assurance framework application to cryptocurrency and sanctions compliance decisions
  • Partner with key BSA/CFT and Sanctions Program Owners to provide comprehensive, action-oriented reporting on the implementation of their programs
  • Monitor key metrics, raise key insights, risks and themes and drive forward accountability of these areas to improve metrics
  • Ensure that quality standards keep pace with Block's expanding product roadmap and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Work alongside Quality Program Managers and leadership to maintain the quality assurance framework, uphold the standards of the quality program and represent the team to our partners.

You Have
  • 8+ years in BSA/AML/KYC compliance and compliance operations at a financial services firm, preferably payments or fintech
  • A track record of influencing enterprise-wide compliance programs and advising executive leadership on complex matters
  • Strong knowledge of compliance regulations, risks, and typologies, paired with an analytical, metrics-driven approach to building substantiated solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the organizational skills to manage competing priorities in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • The ability to execute independently and at a high level while working effectively with team members at all levels
  • Demonstrated AI fluency: framing ambiguous compliance problems for AI, critically evaluating outputs for gaps, bias, or risk, and using AI to accelerate execution without compromising quality or compliance standards
  • Relevant certifications (CAMS, CFE, CFCS, CRCM), and exposure to AI/ML-driven compliance or risk-decisioning tools
