About the role:

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and acquiring the goods and services that are necessary for the efficient functioning of Altasciences' activities. The Buyer achieves this through a competitive RFP process as well as communication and collaboration with vendors and departmental representatives to obtain clear statements of requirements as well as authorizations and signatures for purchases and acquisitions. The buyer will report directly to Manager, Enterprise Procurement. The position will entail the management of demands (Cross-site buying) and the autonomy to make decisions that can affect the operational units of Altasciences. A certain amount of innovation is needed to effectively source and meet the evolving needs of operations.

This position will often need to execute new tasks as they become necessary and daily tasks will often fluctuate based on priority.

What you'll do here:

  • Maximize all savings opportunities and ensure that purchases respect established Altasciences procurement strategy when procuring.

  • Interdepartmental communications with Managers and senior managers.

  • Manage procurement requests and input into Altasciences ERP system and will also ensure the proper usage and management of the ERP system as well as all documents required for financial month end. Responsible for the ERP confirmation of the reception of product.

  • The operational execution of Purchase orders with vendors ensuring that the supply chain management process tactically follows Altasciences’ global vision regarding vendor management.

  • Coordination of the reception of product (i.e. package tracking, backorder report) required for operational resource planning.

  • Main contact for all Altasciences requesters, senior managers regarding any vendor matters.

  • Control and Manage lab/clinic inventory stock.

  • Jointly responsible (consulted as the inventory expert) for production department’s inventory management.

  • Product attribution of costs to specific projects in ERP system to ensure the integrity of the activity-based costing model.

  • Spend analysis of procurement profile.

  • Contact with vendors for frequent issues or for any departmental issues that arise in the supply chain process and facilitate solutions for supply chain issues.

  • Coordinate projects related to new products/requirements, resource maximization or savings initiatives under the support of the Procurement Director.

  • The Buyer is responsible for processing all the necessary documentation that is required, both internally and externally.

  • Research for product procurement (sourcing)

  • Meetings suppliers as required.

  • Some tasks may be assigned to help with Altasciences’ administration that does not solely affect procurement or the Finance department.

  • Will have some responsibilities across all Altasciences locations.

What you'll need to succeed:

Education:

  • A College degree in relevant field. CPP (Certified Professional Purchaser). Pertinent experience will be considered in lieu. CPP (Certified Professional Purchaser)

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office is needed (Excel, Word).

  • Excellent organizational skills.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of related experience

Technical Skills:

MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.

Language(s) Skills:

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals. Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.

  • Self-prioritize what tasks need to be executed in order to meet operational needs.

  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.

  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.

  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.

  • Relevant industry experience a plus.
