Job Description

As an engineer working within the broadcasting team, you will support the project manager and technical expert for the discipline in the planning, design, coordination, and monitoring of engineering or construction projects. You will contribute to assessing the scope of work, selecting equipment, developing technical designs, and tracking schedules, deliverables, and costs. This role is essential to ensuring smooth operations, successful project delivery, and team growth. A great career opportunity for advancement!

Primary Responsibilities

Support to the Project Manager and Technical Expert

  • Assist with the day-to-day management of activities
  • Prepare tracking documents, meeting minutes, progress reports, and internal communications
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, consultants, and contractors

You will also collaborate with the project manager on the following tasks and responsibilities:

Scope of Work Assessment

  • Analyze client needs and technical requirements
  • Define project boundaries, interfaces, and constraints
  • Contribute to the preparation of tender documents, preliminary studies, and feasibility analyses

Equipment Selection

  • Participate in comparative analysis of equipment (performance, cost, compliance)
  • Review technical data sheets and verify compliance with standards and project specifications
  • Provide recommendations for the purchase or integration of equipment

Participation in Design

  • Assist in positioning equipment on plans
  • Develop or validate connection and integration strategies
  • Work with engineers, technicians, and designers to optimize the design

Schedule and Deliverables Tracking

  • Update project schedules and monitor key milestones
  • Track internal and external deliverables
  • Identify risks of delay and propose corrective measures

Cost Estimation

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates
  • Analyze costs related to materials, equipment, and labor
  • Participate in budget tracking and comparison between planned and actual costs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in the field, ideally with knowledge of fire alarm systems
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills
  • Knowledge of design and construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D visualization tools (ACC, Revizto) and project tracking tools (Aconex, Procore)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in file management
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
  • Strong problem analysis and solving skills
  • Excellent writing skills in French
  • Bilingual (English/French): bilingualism is important to ensure effective collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and colleagues in other provinces
