Job Description

Role Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits, the Benefits Advisor plays a key role in the management, validation, and analysis of compensation and benefits data.

The incumbent contributes to data integrity, the smooth execution of compensation processes, and the continuous improvement of internal practices, while performing a hybrid role that combines data analysis and administrative management.

Responsibilities – Benefits

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including group insurance and retirement plans.
  • Manage enrollments, coverage changes, and terminations.
  • Monitor and support short-term and long-term disability cases.

Vendor Management and Compliance

  • Manage relationships with insurance and retirement plan providers.
  • Negotiate and renew group insurance and retirement plan contracts.
  • Analyze contracts and provide recommendations to management.
  • Ensure compliance of benefits programs with applicable laws and regulations.

Communication and Support

  • Effectively communicate benefits programs to employees.
  • Advise managers and employees on insurance, retirement, and disability-related matters.
  • Prepare communications, training materials, and explanatory documents related to benefits programs.
  • Coordinate taxable benefits and ensure information is accurately transmitted to Payroll.
  • Support the Talent Acquisition team by providing benefits-related information to new hires.
  • Perform other related duties associated with benefits administration.

Responsibilities – Compensation

  • Verify, validate, and ensure the integrity of compensation-related data (role includes a strong administrative component).
  • Conduct basic to intermediate compensation analyses.
  • Manage and monitor:
    • Incentive and bonus files (tracking signed approvals, validations, and follow-ups).
    • The annual salary review process.
    • Hiring salary approval requests.
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate exceptions or discrepancies that require attention.
  • Participate in the improvement and automation of compensation-related processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (HR, Payroll, and external partners) to ensure data consistency and quality.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Excel (spreadsheets, data analysis, lookup functions such as VLOOKUP).
  • Ability to produce basic to intermediate data analyses.
  • Strong aptitude for data administration and management, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Interest in HR systems (HRIS) and technology tools.
  • Basic knowledge of compensation and benefits, or a strong capacity to learn.
