About the Role
CapIntel is hiring a Back-end Developer to join the growing Data Team. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing the data infrastructure that supports the platform. The work involves developing scalable back-end systems with a focus on data processing, API integrations, and cloud-based architectures. This position collaborates closely with developers and product teams to ensure that data pipelines, storage systems, and back-end services are robust, secure, and high-performing.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain back-end services using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and NoSQL databases, like MongoDB.
- Design and optimize data storage solutions for structured and unstructured financial data.
- Build and maintain enterprise-level API integrations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and security.
- Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (AWS), ensuring performance and reliability.
- Write comprehensive back-end tests, including unit and integration tests for API endpoints.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to back-end development standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with data and product teams to ensure backend solutions align with business needs.
What We're Looking For
- Backend Development: Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, with experience building scalable backend systems.
- Databases & APIs: Hands-on experience with MongoDB and developing secure, efficient APIs.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with deploying and managing services on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Testing & Code Quality: Strong focus on writing maintainable code supported by unit and integration tests.
- Collaboration & Communication: Effective at working cross-functionally and communicating technical concepts clearly.
Bonus Experience
- Experience using Python for backend scripting or data processing
- Familiarity with serverless architectures, such as AWS Lambda
- Understanding of search indexing technologies like Elasticsearch
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows

- 30-Minute Video Call with a Talent Acquisition Partner: A conversation to get to know you better, discuss your experience and motivations, and explore your technical knowledge and cultural fit for the role.
- 60-Minute Interview with a member of Engineering Leadership: A deeper dive into your technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and alignment with our team’s goals. This interview also focuses on your approach to collaboration and communication within a cross-functional environment.
- 75-Minute Live Coding Session: A hands-on coding session with a Team Lead or Engineering Leader. You’ll be tasked with solving a technical problem in real-time, where we’ll evaluate your coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and approach to optimizing code.
