POSITION OVERVIEW
The ESG Analyst plays a key role in advancing BDC’s sustainability and social impact objectives. This position is responsible for the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG performance data, supporting the development and implementation of a robust ESG data governance framework. The analyst will also contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation aligned with evolving ESG standards and regulatory requirements, including green taxonomy frameworks.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Data Management & Analysis
Lead the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG and sustainability data from internal departments and external sources. Including greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
Support development and tracking of impact measurements.
Develop and maintain data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity.
Utilize tools such as Power BI to create dashboards and visualizations that support internal decision-making and external reporting.
Reporting & Disclosure
Coordinate the preparation of annual sustainability and ESG-related reports in alignment with recognized standards. Including annual sustainability report and forced labor report.
Monitor and integrate emerging ESG disclosure requirements and relevant frameworks, including Canada’s Bill S-211 (Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act)
Track and report on sustainability KPIs for both internal performance management and external stakeholders.
Maintain documentation for B-Corp certification.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights for ESG initiatives.
Support internal awareness and training efforts related to ESG data and reporting.
Documentation & Communication
Assist in the preparation and revision of ESG-related documents, presentations, and briefing materials for internal and external audiences.
Contribute to the organization of sustainability related training, webinars and events and provide administrative support (e.g., budgeting, procurement).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability reporting, or a related field, with a strong understanding of ESG data and reporting trends.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with ESG standards and frameworks (e.g., SASB, TCFD, CSSB, green taxonomy, and Canadian forced labor reporting requirements).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a strong asset.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.
