Join Our Team as a Data Analyst
Are you passionate about transforming data into actionable insights? Ciena, the global leader in high-speed connectivity, is seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence & Data Informatics team. This role offers the opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and drive strategic initiatives that empower our customers and communities to thrive in the AI era.
How You Will Contribute:
- Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Power BI to support data-driven decision-making.
- Collect, clean, and validate data from diverse sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance with governance policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into impactful BI solutions.
- Automate data workflows using Alteryx to enhance efficiency and streamline reporting.
- Utilize advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling and statistical analysis, to solve business challenges.
- Communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences, providing training and support on BI tools and data literacy.
The Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in data analysis, interpretation, visualization, and communication.
- Mastery of Power BI/DAX, Alteryx, SQL RDBMS, and Excel.
- Exceptional analytical skills and experience with database management and data visualization tools.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex data into concise, actionable insights.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage ambiguity with proactive planning.
- Commitment to handling confidential information with discretion.
Nice to Haves:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud tools.
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft, Alteryx, Tableau, or equivalent.
- Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies in data informatics.
- Proven ability to anticipate and resolve issues effectively.
- Relationship-building skills across organizational levels.
- Understanding of strategic planning and KPI monitoring.
Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position in Ottawa is $81, 600 - $130, 400
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
