Data Engineering Advisor

The Personal Services Analytics and Data Solutions Department creates and supports turnkey data access solutions for the various business sectors. Our data team’s goal is to provide our clients with high-quality information so they can make better decisions faster and at the right time. The department is home to some 60 business intelligence professionals, data engineering advisors, architects, delivery managers, and more. As a data engineering advisor, you help develop solutions for collecting, integrating, consolidating, cleaning, storing and transparently mining data. You help develop, maintain, support and run computer applications and data pipelines, while ensuring the functional analysis, IT design, coding, fine-tuning and documentation of programs. More specifically, you will be required to :

• Identify analytics needs based on feedback from users.

• Create data mapping specifications and documentation.

• Implement, monitor, maintain and improve a wide range of systems that meet business needs.

• Design and build data ingestion pipelines and data transformation processes.

• Develop algorithms, prototypes and proofs of concept within projects.

• Identify opportunities to improve systems based on trends and behaviours and recommend updates.

• Help develop procedures and document technical solutions.

• Carry out complex data engineering mandates on your own and provide support to your team members.

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• A minimum of four years of relevant experience in data and analytics

• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

• Experience in data engineering

• Experience with ETL/ELT tools

• Experience with languages: SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures/functions, Python

• Experience with Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, DevOps)

• Relevant experience using agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban

• Knowledge of French required 

• Knowledge of data transformation tools (ideally dbt)

• Knowledge of Databricks

• Knowledge of a workflow orchestration tool (ideally Airflow)

• Knowledge of the lakehouse, medallion and data mesh architecture concepts

• Knowledge of the Continuous Delivery framework (CI/CD)

• Knowledge of multidimensional databases

• Knowledge of data security (for example, access model, data protection)

• Knowledge of Azure MLOps and advanced analytics
