Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist to join the Specialty Lines Finance team! We work closely with the Canada Specialty lines business and actuaries to understand financial performance as well as collaborating with Global Specialty Lines finance teams in the UK, US and Europe. We're looking for a curious individual who can look beyond the numbers to really understand how the business is performing.
What you’ll do here:

• Analyze and understand underwriting results in collaboration with actuaries.

• Collaborate with FP&A to produce weekly P&L forecasts

• Support our SL business units in the management of their operational expenses.

• Participate in Global Specialty Lines strategic initiatives

• Participate in the underwriting results and general expenses budget process.

• Take a critical look at the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations.

• Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise.

• Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files.

What you bring to the table:

• CPA designation – is required

• Minimum 5-years experience in accounting or finance – is required

• Advanced proficiency using Excel – is required

• Experience using Oracle or other ERP systems

• Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is an asset

• Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change

• Discipline, autonomy and professionalism

• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders

• For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
