Montreal-based SPARK Microsystems announced a CAD $17 million Series B funding round co-led by Idealist Capital and Real Ventures. The company’s solutions leverage low-energy, ultra-wideband technology suited for IoT-connected devices like AI wearables, AR/VR headsets and autonomous mobile robots.
The company powers short-range wireless communication devices for consumer, industrial and medical applications. SPARK is growing in response to increased customer demand for wireless solutions designed to meet the performance and power requirements of new-gen intelligent edge devices. Its new capital allows it to expand its business and further commercialize its technology.
“As we expand SPARK’s commercial presence, we see soaring demand across wearables, gaming peripherals, industrial automation, smart buildings, medical devices and beyond,” Dhiraj Sogani, SPARK’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “This funding equips us to scale customer engagements, strengthen channel initiatives and lead deployments in markets where performance, power efficiency and reliability are critical.”
