Based near Montreal, Solugen provides sustainable agriculture solutions for organic farming. The company just secured $50 million in funding to scale production of its low-carbon nitrogen fertilizer solution, Azogen.

The company works to help farmers increase their crop yields and simultaneously reduce the greenhouse gas emissions typically associated with conventional fertilizers. Solugen’s Azogen product undergoes a fully circular production process, deriving the liquid ammoniacal nitrogen fertilizer from hog manure.

With its new equity round, led by Idealist Capital, Solugen plans to scale up production of Azogen as it enters its next phase of growth. The company will also invest its new funding in building out its team.

“Our technology delivers proven performance while reducing environmental impact,” André Beaulieu‑Blanchette, Solugen’s founder and CEO, said in a statement. “Scaling our operations will allow us to serve more growers and help close the yield gap in organic farming. With this support, we will continue growing our team and strengthening the foundations needed for long‑term, sustainable expansion.”
