You play an important role in the department, maintaining systems and performing tasks and activities that support our continuous improvement (CI) processes and culture. You help with data collection, ensure its accuracy, promote CI progress and keep track of the department KPI scorecards.
How you will contribute
You will:
  • Provide training on CI tools and techniques. You will also help departments follow our established daily management system (DMS)
  • Help teams collect data or extract it from the system to support CI activities and the DMS
  • Facilitate root-cause analysis to address identified losses and departmental KPI scorecard gaps
  • Establish new work standards to sustain improvement
  • Train and qualify colleagues on CI tools and new work standards resulting from CI activities

Manage and Direct colleagues and activities on the line to meet overall performance objectives for:• Safety (TIR, BOS, QRPs)• Quality (RFT, CCPM)• Cost (GE, Labour, Raw, Pack)• Delivery (CTS, Attainment)
Manage and schedule their line staffing process to ensure colleagues are trained and have the necessary skills to perform all required duties, safely, and effectively.
  • Support day-to-day performance improvement at the East York Bakery (speed increase, stop reduction, scrap reduction, labour efficiency improvement.)
  • Work with Operations Leaders to define and scope loss elimination opportunities.
  • Lead & coach improvement teams to identify & analyze opportunities, and develop solutions and control plans; use lean (5 whys, VSM), six sigma (Pareto, C&E, FMEA) and focused improvement (bottleneck analysis, driver trees) methodology.
  • Capture and proactively communicate learning to enable best practice replication.
  • Coach, train and develop Core Teams, to deliver productivity and performance improvement.
  • Ensure positive employee relations and develops strong network with plant resources.
  • Ensure teams understand key performance metrics (unsafe behaviours, GE, downtime, stops, scrap, and consumer complaints) and how to access data.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation & provide progress updates and final reports to project sponsors and Plant Leadership
  • Demonstrates the following competencies: ability to lead & motivate others, problem solving, decision making, results driven, accountable and excellent communication skills.

Provide proactive Safety leadership for the line, ensuring (STOP) observations and accident incident reports are completed. Review findings and identify root causes & ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Safety all day-dedicated 10 minutes daily
  • Follow up on safety concerns and action taken
  • Stop observations
  • Participate in RCA investigations
  • Action safety items from JHSC for Line
  • Spot audits of equipment for unsafe conditions

Deliver quality product that is in-specification and right first time. Ensure all quality parameter checks are done correctly, on-time and recorded in the Quality Suite database.
  • Attend shift PQR
  • Applies SPC to monitor the variability of CTQ/CTPs
  • Utilises PAPAs to accept or reject product
  • Identifies Q Points on the equipment and performs inspections
  • Participate and audit quality through PQR & DMS board daily/spot checks
  • Quality escapes /investigate/RCCA
  • Auditing Quality Suite Data and checks are accurately completed every shift
  • Shift Line Process Audit complete

Lead and drive root cause identification activities and implement corrective action and preventative action plans for line losses
  • Drive product improvements on lines, presentation to recipe/PAPAS (center-line in control)
  • Create CAPA/5W2H and close out action plans
  • Support the CWP Action Plans
  • Drive actions and closure of top 3 losses

Promote and Manage activities related to colleague relations, while maintaining positive relations. Lead the line providing coaching and counselling in conjunction with regular reviews and training, to maintain high morale.
  • Regular meeting with Line Managers and Line Leads to ensure consistency/improvement across lines and shifts
  • Daily full line Gemba walk
  • Coaching and counselling with Leadership Team
  • Coach/Listen

Work and Communicate across all departments in order to achieve the delivery goals and planned objectives to ensure efficient operations.
  • Reviewing schedule ahead of week for line
  • Review daily schedule attainment for line
  • Verify and communicate weekly attainment and cost with team members
  • Ensure changeovers are planned and prepared
  • Ensure have maintenance support for line
  • Ensure planned maintenance work takes place on time and does not conflict with production schedule
  • Create work notifications for (Red) tags applied to their line
  • Participate in production scheduling meeting - Line leaders don't participate on these meetings, only LM and PE
  • (Following the escalation procedure) - Escalating breakdown issues
  • Trials are planned resourced and executed on time
  • Follow up with planned maintenance schedule for line
  • Proper constant reporting with Line Manager and Process Engineer - Physically, on the phone, messages, or e-mail

Monitor line performance and ensure output, labour and material yield standards are achieved.
  • Review shift performance for assigned lines
  • Complete Daily Line Production Report, completely and accurately
  • Address and get involved in down time over 10 minutes
  • Meet regularly with line team to discuss line performance DMS 2/3
  • Constantly check weight performance for over pack and B&R on line
  • Line efficiency, focus on improvements (kaizens creations) and action plans
  • Follow through with oven speeds and adjust when necessary to avoid waste
  • Reduce waste and energy consumption on line

Ensure labour standards are met and applied on the line. Act as a role model & follows all the non-negotiable standards of the site
