About the role .
Reporting to the Sr Manager of North America Insights, this role is responsible for developing and championing consumer and operator insights to drive business growth. This role will be responsible for leading foundational and new product development primary research, leveraging a proprietary demand space framework, analyzing syndicated data, delivering consumer macro trends and foresight signals to develop meaningful insights and crafting strategic recommendations to deliver a competitive advantage to the company.
You will work cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, Integrated Media Communications, Go-to-Market, Innovation, Sensory, R&D, as well as partner with external data vendors to guide overall data-derived marketing and business decisions.
This position is based in Toronto, Canada - with a hybrid 3-days in office work schedule.

What you'll be doing.
Be a Strategic Insights Thought Leader
- Embed insights throughout the organization and be the voice of the operator & consumer.
- Champion our consumer demand space framework, journey mapping, and operator archetypes throughout the organization.
- Support development and implementation of a comprehensive [consumer-/operator-centric] annual learning plan that fuels big bets and addresses strategic business objectives and knowledge gaps across channels.
- Drive continuous improvement through ways of working, insights training and sourcing new innovative methods and techniques to drive novel insight generation with greater frequency, speed and scale
- Support creation and execution of a regular cadence of distilled materials which are the source of truth, getting to root causes, the so what, now what.
Cross Functional Partnership & Supplier Management
- Collaborate with Innovation and Marketing teams to understand business questions and current and emerging priorities to develop, manage and execute customized learning plans that provide meaningful and actionable findings grounded in a depth of consumer, shopper and customer understanding.
- Build and maintain a close relationship with cross functional partners such that you are a strategic partner versus solely a data provider.
- Support management of relationship with external research vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring work meets expectations
- Own the relationship with our external data suppliers (Circana, etc.) to guide their reporting, bringing forward timely and actionable reviews of the business, deep dives into the category, and future trends that will impact our business.
- Manage the workflow, data integrity, and storytelling of multiple external vendors and contractors.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Market Research, Marketing, Statistics, or related field with
5+ years' experience in an Insights role. - Market Research Acumen: Experience leading & managing qualitative and quantitative research projects from inception to completion. Established knowledge of sampling, research design, analysis, report writing and presentation development. Ability to identify issues, generate innovative research solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience with Market Research Tools: experience analyzing data and driving key implications using syndicated data/tools from Circana (NPD + IRI), Nielsen, Datassential, Technomic, Mintel, etc.
- Strategic Thought Leadership: Be able to hold a seat at the table to represent the voice of the consumer. Be seen as an expert on primary research, syndicated data, and macro trends.
- Strategic Storyteller: Be able to bring together data and insights from various sources into one clear narrative.
- Self-Motivated: While part of a strong team of Insights experts, embrace the autonomy of creating learning plans and executing the work on your own.
- Curiosity & Empathy : Display a passion to understand consumers - to uncover why people do what they do.
- Foodie : Be passionate about food and an active observer and participant of trends
- Budget Management: Proficiency managing an insights budget preferred; organized and detail oriented a must.
- Microsoft: Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Time Management: Strong organizational and project planning/strategizing skills. Able to manage meeting deadlines and be flexible to changes or revised priorities.
